Help me cure/finish leather for a drop loop

Hey guys. I have some leather laying around the house and i was thinking about making a drop loop for one of my kydex sheaths. What product should i apply to the leather to make it more durable and water resistant? Is there something simple i can get at Wally world or home despot? Thanks for giving a new guy some help. Outdoor supply stores like REI and Dick's should have Sno-Seal. Works like a dream and I use it on all my sheaths and holsters.
