Hello all. I got this 703 when my sister found it in her car (used car). The shield was missing, so I replaced it myself.

Is this enough of an image to date it? Any indication if this is (I hope) 440C?

Thanks in advance!

bras, I'm away from my notes and a emblem and side view would help but I'm mostly certain your 703 is an early 80's model.
Like 80-82. Theres another collector of these models who sometimes frequents here. He may give you more information
before I can obtain my books. This series has a rich history and is a upgrade knife off the 300 series. The first of this series were polished and utilized blades of 440C and walnut handles which it looks like yours falls within. DM

Well, I do admire this knife, but, Barry White and flowers? My other knives may get jealous...

This thing is sweet, though. The sheepsfoot blade is the thinnest of any of my folders, only thicker than my strait-razor, and not by much. All of the blades are wicked cutters. The spey blade even gave me a bite right after this picture, and I hardly felt it.

Buck brought out the 703 in Dec. 1979 with the 3 line old English script stamp. So, yours is the early model. The stamp was changed in 84 to a block letter style. I believe this model was produced at Buck's factory from the onset. DM
