Help Me Decide: 110 Slim Pro or Alaskan Guides Vantage Folder

I have a few dollars left over from Christmas and have decided to treat myself to a new knife. I'm a Buck guy through and through for mostly sentimental reasons. I'm trying to decide between these two knives. I want the large vantage, but the store is sold out and can't tell me when they'll be getting them in. I want to eventually get both the large and small vantage and they have the small vantage in stock. I've been wanting something I can EDC and has a good look while being fully functional. The vantage looks pretty and the 110 slim is so much lighter and seems like it would pocket carry well, especially compared to the original. Both of these knives have the S30V steel for the blade.

I can get the 110 Slim Pro for about $76 and the small vantage for $44, pre-tax. If i wanted to make a special, relatively short trip, I could run and get the large vantage for $49.50.

What would you go with?

Thanks for your time!

Personally? I would go for the 110 Slim Pro, but they're very different knives. The Vantage was built from the ground up as a modern folder and that's what it feels like to carry and use. The 110 Slim Pro is a modern twist on the 110 but, IMO, still has the design and feel of an old school lockback, just with some modern conveniences. I love that feel and combination, but it's not going to open as smoothly and quickly as the Vantage, and it's solidly a two handed closer. Some may find that tips the scales towards the Vantage. For me, the 110 Slim Pro is a fantastic knife that seamlessly blends utility and nostalgia into a very nice package, but some may not like the slow, deliberate pull to open it or the pinned construction.

I have morphed from 110 to 112fg to 110&112 Lt on the hip and 112 slim in the pocket. I absolutely love all these knives but i am sold out on the 112 slim for pocket carry. So my vote is 110 slim of which i will have one next year.

Didnt see the other replies. One hand closing is more involved true but opening takes a little practice to find the sweet spot which for me is slightly back where most knives with thumb studs are. More like at a 45 degree angle and it feels natural.

I say go for the Vantage Pro. I love mine. I tried a new 112 Pro and couldn't make it work for me. I'm fully converted to one-hand deployment on a knife and the new 110-112 pro series knives aren't quite there. They're a little clunky and that just made me miss my Vantage -- which is now back in pocket as my preferred EDC.

I don't feel complete unless I have one or both of these near by at work or at home. They are just too versatile. Great steel, great coating, flip open, thumb open, one hand close, ergonomic fit any way you hold it, sturdy construction, pocket clip.

To be fair, I do not yet own a 110 Slim Pro

Just practicing posting pictures with my new gold membership. Doesn’t always work
I found it helps to size them down to no larger than 1024x768 if your not trying to show detail it can go down the next size. I resize mine in Microsoft office.

I don't have the slim, but I prefer my 112's to my Vantage for just about any cutting tasks (feel in hand)... I carry the FG version most often.

I always carried my trusty 1978 •110•(25 years) it’s retired now as i got a 110FG and pow i love the grip of the finger grooves.
Thought i was good then got a 112 and liked the size. Naturally one with finger grooves now is at my side. I should have waited for the Auto 112FG? Oh well!
When it comes to the Slim I did go with the cheaper 420HC blade and Green FRN grip( pic above) So light you forget its even in your pocket.

I know my pick (112 slim pro) wasn’t one of your choices but I want to explain why I chose it.
I had a 110 slim (not a pro model) and IMO it’s just a little long for pocket carry. And it’s a little harder to open one handed then the 112 model. Also my 110 Slim seemed a little flimsy, now the pro model might be stiffer with the Micarta/G10 handels. I don’t know because I haven’t handled one yet.
That’s why I chose the 112 slim pro. It’s in my pocket every day.
I’ve since sold my 110 slim.
