Blackwood v. Snody

I 've narrowed it down to these 2 contenders.
Really I'm just looking fo a fancy letter / box opener.

any thoughts / experiences you could share would be great :D

neither will make good box openers. their grinds are thick. I would suggest you look at william henry or the new bradley ALIASII (3 inch).

I think both are very good knives

However for the task you indicated in your post I would suggest that you might want to look at the Benchmade "921-S Switchback" model. I think it is better than either.

It has the same very good steel and has one big blade for boxes (S30V) and one little blade for letters (440-C). The 921 is an easy carry and opening knife and the best looking of all the BM's in the blue color (I'm getting tired of all the black), IMHO.

Just to get back to the subject..............I have the 635, and I don't consider the blade style as good for opening letters. Too thick IMHO.

I don't want to hurt any feelings but here are some more impressions of the two knives you are considering. Since you will be laying down a good amount of green for whatever you decide upon you might as well get some good input.

I think the 426 Snody has a handle that is too tapered for a good grip. I have the auto version of this knife.

With the little holes the 635 Blackwood Skirmish, while wildly popular, reminds of a cheesy Spyderco knockoff.

The auto I like is the 5000-S Presidio. It feels good and handles nicely.

Thoughts?
