I want another under 3" blade edc. I like to hear your views on the BM 707 (Sequel) and 903 (Mini-Axis Stryker) in helping me to decide which one if any I should consider.

Hi Marty, the 707 is a smallish knife; even in my smallish hands it's hard to get a good five fingered grip. The 903 is a much better fit, from both tactical EDC value and overall ergonomics. If asked to choose, the 903 in plain edged satin would be the one I'd buy.

That's the issue for me with sub 3" blades is the limited real estate to purchase. Thanks for your reply.

The 707's grip is small, and it's a common point of complaint.

That said, it's a feature I actually like, as you get a lot of blade in a small space.

Love my 707. Great blade to handle ratio. I have 2xl hands so all of my small knives are 3 finger grips. I get a very positive grip on mine but it's for light use anyway.

No experience with either of those, but I have a 586, a 705 and a 470. The 705 and 586 are small knives with handles that fill my xlg hand very nicely.......especially the 586!! Excellent small knives!

Do you have difficulty getting a firm grip on it?

No, I don't.

Then again, my favorite carry handguns are J-frames and Glock 26s, so I don't have an issue with a 3-finger grip.

IMHO the contribution of the pinky finger to overall grip strength is negligible.

That's a tough choice for me, I really like both of those knives. The one complaint I have about the 903 is that it's a little rougher on the pocket because of the texture of the scales. It's not super aggressive, just a little rougher than I like. I've heard others complain about the 707 being too slick for them, I've personally had no problem with that though. The only other thing I can think to point out is that the 707 has a bit more of a precision tip on it, better for piercing through objects like plastic packaging and cardboard, but either one will still get the job done.

Here's a few more to consider, all of these are excellent choices for edc in my opinion. HK mini axis, mini stryker, sequel, mini barrage, mini grip, north fork axis
