I'm still new at this...

These are two very different knives, which I've researched and appreciate each of them. Plus, they are gorgeous! But, I want to only buy one right now.

Would be an EDC, used around the house for house stuff, as well as a critical tool for home projects as I rebuild our 50 year old house (my first home purchase! The work never ends...). That and all the other usual knife stuff. Except food prep. That grosses me out to use an everything knife also for food, lol.

Needs to be tough and reliable. Planning for some heavy use but not abuse. Been through some Shiros (too fancy) and some Hinderers (like them, but just not feeling then so much), so I'm on to Fallkniven.

Can you help me decide between these two (and only these two?)

Thanks!

The F1 comes in VG10, LamCoS & 3G!!!! Which steel
The PXL co.Ed in Elmax now! Older models were.3G
The PXLwh comes in LamCoS.
I'd go F1 for all the work you're planning!!!!

Thanks! jfk1110 jfk1110 , which steel for the F1 then? Have read a bunch on them, and hard to decipher a real "winner"

I choose based on your skill at sharpening!!! If you can do it yourself go with 3G!! Holds an edge.the longest also the most money!!! LamCoS is an excellent steel that's easy.to get back Into shape.

I have both steels in my Fallkniven knives n love both!!

Last question -- real noob stuff here -- is there a decent conceal carry sheath for the F1? Open and concealed are both legal here, but the less showing, the better...

Thanks!

The F1 has a short, small handle. The lens starts at the bottom 1/4 of the blade. This knife splits solid foods.

Go for a custom sheath! There are lots of great leather guys out there!! Quite a few are members here too! Use the search.function in the heading!!!!

Hello bort 2.0

I have a 2009 F1 In Lam steel. Very nice knife - an icon. Hard to sharpen , but a good cutter. The sheaths are ok , but a custom one in leather would be a wise investment.
I also have a U2 folder, also oldish ( 10 plus years).
It used to be my EDC at work . I am now retired.
Both are excellent models of Swedish crafts. Whatever you choose , it will be a good buy.

The weak point of the Fallkniven PXL folders are the tiny screws and posts of inferior metal, but as long as you don't try to disassemble the knives things will most likely be just fine.

I'll have to say the F1 in Cos easy to sharpen and holds a good edge and sweat and water shouldn't matter. A leather sheath for being quite/stealthy or a kydex sheath for a more water and sweat resistant. The Wm-1 is a cool little knife as well, quite a bit smaller but a nice light weight knife to have as a backup maybe. I can't say one way or the other about the folders as I haven't owned one yet. If you keep up with the sharpening a little stropping is only required as well.

I've a number of Fallknivens, including the pocket clip version of the PXL(x) in Lam. COS. Differences between a folder and a fixed blade aside, I'm not sure you'll go wrong either way.

Thanks everyone. Seems like I have my answer! Although truth be told, I might try to buy both.
Nothing wrong with that. I keep a F1 and a PXL in a backpack I take camping. Both are great knives, but they’re different animals. F1 for more “outdoorsy” chores around the campsite and the PXL gets used for food prep.

A Mora might do just as well around the house doing construction stuff as an F1 (which I love -- great knife). Many European craftspeople use Moras on the job.

I'll have to convince myself to NOT order the most beautiful F1, though. I'm in love!
