Alright I just recieved my Benchmade 580 barrage and I love the size of this knife.

But I'm in the process of picking another edc knife. I have 4 knives I'm been looking at. An can't decide which one help me choose

1. Benchmade 5000, 154CM - wondering if this is much bigger than my barrage?
2. Benchmade 5500 154CM - how much smaller is this knife compared to its big brother
3. Gerber Auto Covert with S30V
4. Benchmade Mel Pardue 3550 154CM

Alright well I narrowed it down to the BM Mel Pardue 3550 PE and the BM 5500 PE. Come on people at least let me hear your experiences with one of these blades. I know there is some people out there that own these blades.

any particular reason?

well, i own an assisted version of the covert, and i think its a great design. and i also like the design of bm 3550 more so than the other bms. i think the 3550 might be a bit harder to find as well. i also really like dagger type blades, so these two appeal to me more.

thanks for the help i picked the 3550 because its usually not my style blade and I wanted to step outside my norm and try a new design style. But I also might just buy both. I love my benchmades!

Here is a pic for ref... I don't carry the 5000 any longer... too fat (thick) and it eats my pants. The 154 is great imo... I have a few knives in it.

Well still looking for some input, and experiences with these knives. I actually might buy the mini auto presidio, or covert so I can switch up my edc =). Just another reason to buy more knives right? hehe =)

I am a big fan of the BM Barrage series, both sizes, so let me applaud your good taste.

I don't have any of the knives you mention, but I would recommend two slightly smaller knives:

--Ontario Rat folder--a great knife at an incredible price

--BM 720--if you can find one, this is one of my favorite knives. The ergonomics on the grip are just incredible, and (as you know) you can't beat an Axis lock.

On a full size knife, take a look at the Emerson A100. I have small hands, so I use the Mini, and it has knocked out the 720 as my edc.
