Help me decide (Strider v. ZT)

My business partner and I are going to buy some nice knives for ourselves. I'm deciding between the Strider PT and the ZT 0301. I understand that the knives are very dissimilar in function.

I'm primarily interested in coolness/looks factor. I've got dozens of knives so I'm not buying it for a particular purpose.

I edc an Al Mar Sere 2000, ZT0350 or a Large Classic Sebenza - so I like the blades a little on the large side. I'm leaning heavily towards the ZT. Let me know if I'm an idiot for passing up the chance to get a Strider.

Handle them both and get whichever floats your boat. If you are a knife nut..... every day is a brand new chance to get a Strider........... or ZT, or Spyderco, or Benchmade, or custom.....................:D

I would get the ZT, my 300 could not be a more perfect knife. The F&F is the some of the best I have seen and its ability to take a beating and not have a single problem makes it that much better. I'm sure the strider is a nice knife but I always hear of problems with the F&F and for a $400+ knife this should be the last issue you ever hear of.

I'd get a ZT, simply because I think striders are gruesomely overpriced.

But that's just me. From what I understand the ZT's are every bit the knife that the Striders are.....so why pay more.

I had a ZT302 and sent it back. Just too dang heavy. It is a fun knife though. Why not spend a few bucks more and get an SnG if you want a Strider. I just got one from True North Knives and it is a sweet blade with none of the imperfections in F&F I have heard so much about.

for the price of the strider u can almost get 2 zt301.

the zt301 is just as good as the strider and zt's customer service is one of the best in the business.

get the zt0301

i have a zt0300 and i love it.

I have owned a few striders (3xsng's and 1xsmf) and a few ZT's (2xMudd, 2x0301, 2x0200, 1x0350). Never had a fit/finish issue with any of these knives and I am very picky. I wouldn't make a decision based on that.

So here's my take. I sold all my Striders. I really liked them when I had them but they saw little use.

The ZT 0301 was the go to knife of the bunch so the Striders went bye bye. The assisted opener makes it so much fun to play with and carry, plus it cuts better than any of the others due to an extremely high grind and thinner blade than the SMF.

If you are looking for a knife that you will enjoy having in a collection I think the 0301 is the one to get since it's so unique. It's a knife you get and then say I can't believe this was only xxx $. You rarely hear that about a PT, or any Strider. Although, if you want more of an edc then the PT is likely a better choice. (I happen to edc my 0301 more than any other knife right now, but I like big bruiser folders!)

If you like larger sized blades I'd go one size up and get an SnG. You get more blade than a PT and still a few ounces lighter than the ZT.

I've got a flame anodized SnG with a stonewashed blade and I love it.

i cant believe youd compare a pt to a 300 lolllllll

slight size difference

but between an smf and a 300, the smf is the nicer knife, but is it worth twice the price? depends on the person.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'm going w/ the ZT. Tough, tough decision. The opportunity to get a Strider might not come around again for a while. Just can't pass up the chance to get the monster.

Should be here around 10 a.m. tomorrow.

So you got them both? That's the BFC way!

The ZT is a super knife in many ways, I like it.
I like the design of the Strider (SnG, SmF, PT)better than the ZT, because I don't have a large hand and the Striders fit well.
Design is not the whole picture, however. If the blade steel is "soft", that is not cool and if the factory will not replace the blade that is not cool either.:grumpy:
