Hi,
I'm looking for an EDC folding knife, under $75, yet still as high quality as possible in that price range. I don't want a tanto design (already have one.) What are good brands/models to look for?

I suggest that check out the Spyderco and Benchmade line ups, more specifically, the Spyderco Endura & Delica and the Benchmade Griptilians. The Camillus EDC is also worth a look. If at all possible, try to handle the knives before buying. Good luck!

Doh! Beaten by mere moments! :p

I'll pretend that I haven't read the other posts here, and suggest that you buy either a Spyderco Endura, or the slightly smaller Delica.:).

The Camillus EDC is a nice choice also. It only runs about 50.00. The EDC is a nice smallish knife that is easy to carry all of the time and it has a sweet recurve blade that cuts well. It uses good blade steel and is a general work horse, at a great price point. Have fun in your search.

The Timberline Wortac has a 4" AUS-8A blade and is very stout overall. Can be had for about $40.00-$50.00.
CRKT has the M-18 for about $60.00. Another fairly stout folder with a 3 3/4" AUS-8A blade, LAWKS knife safety, Carson "Flipper" that doubles as a guard and Aluminum handle. One of my very favorite folders.;D
And, Smith and Wesson has new Frame Lock folders out with 3 3/4" re-curved 440c blades, the FL-1 and FL-2 for between $40.00 and $50.00. A really decent knife for the money.

Many choices now in your stated price range. Best of luck deciding on just one.:D

All the best,
Mike U.

Buck 110, Buck Alpha . Alpha has ATS-34 and a wood handle insert.Buck 110 is the old standard. Good values.

I would throw in a few extra bucks and get the Benchmade 705. Very stout, heavy duty little knife. I love mine.

A Spyderco Native would be fantastic. It's been my EDC for a while and is also a favorite of Bladeforumers on the Spyderco forum. Perfect size, great ergonomics, great steel, cuts everything well. And it's in your price range.

I think Jazzman's suggestion of the Benchmade 705 is also excellent.

Patriot29, what role do you expect of your EDC? Most people, I suppose, would use it mostly for utility purposes and for self-defense in an emergency. How much weight you place on the SD aspect could help you decide one knife over another. For example, if the SD capabilities are not important, a nice slipjoint folder may suffice. Slipjoint designs tend to have a nostalgic look and often have natural materials for scales. Notwithstanding what I just said the knives recommended by others to you all make good choices as well. I hope this helps rather than confuse you more.

An opinion from waaay south. I live in Brazil, and a Spyderco Native, FRN PE has been riding in my pocket for almost one year. Could not ask for anything better for daily tasks in a city. However, when I head to the woods, a larger folder goes with me (4" Voyager or Spyderco Military, depending on the moods...though the Millie would fall out of Your price range).

You'll have a hard time finding a good Benchmade or Spyderco for that price.

I do agree with the Timberline Wortac. It's the best $55 knife I've seen in a LONG time. (I got mine for that on Ebay.)

Look at SOG and Kershaw while you're at it.

I suggest a Microtech Combat Talon II Walter Brend (hollow ground 1200 g.s.f) with the Titanium Carbonitride Blade as a good overall daily carry. Oh wait...I thought you said for around $350. Sorry.
