Hey all,

Here is my current lineup.

Large to small:
Spyderco Lionspy combo edge (added pro tech serrations)
Black on black Spyderco PM2
Spyderco Delica 4 FRN
Ontario Rat 2

I'm thinking about downsizing my knife collection to just 1 or 2 knives. After getting the Ontario Rat 2, I love the size for day to day carry. Especially I love how fast it deploys .. it feels almost assisted and the optimized 3'' blade length (3 is maximum length in LA County).

Can you guys recommend 2 knives for all purposes? I would be looking for a nice 3'' folder with fast deployment for day to day carry and a larger folder, 3.5 to 4'' when carrying while hiking, camping, or doing outdoor activities. I think the Lionspy, especially with serrations for cutting rope etc, would be a good candidate but I've been itching for a Strider SNG. Additionally, I want a higher end 3'' EDC. Considered a small sebenza but didn't like how hard it was to deploy versus my Rat 2. Also thought about a Strider PT but didn't like the shortened blade length due to the choil.

Thoughts?

I personally would go for the Strider SnG for the larger knife. It's tough yet light, and has a moderately thick blade stock that is strong but still slices fairly well. I've never owned a Strider PT so I can't comment on the EDC ability of it, but I would think the cutting edge it has would be enough for any EDC task. If I could make another suggestion though, for a sub 3" EDC I'd go with an Emerson CQC-14. It's a California legal blade in a full size handle. Very tough and excellent geometry for slicing. Also, the CQC-14 deploys super fast with the Emerson wave feature.
