I'm debating modifying my FBMLE.

I don't have the funds to buy a new blade.

I Love the FBMLE but think it could be improved. The mods I have mind are similar to what River-8 did to his FSH, and tapering the tang, smoothing all the edges. And I'm also thinking about mading the front 1-3 inches of the knife into a sort of Nessmuk type tip.

I just want to hear your pros and cons

thanks

Depends, how "skilled" are you?

I've modded game wardens, but don't think I have the skills to go grinding on an 800 dollar knife (current value.)

I voted save your pennies... The CGs are coming down in price (probably for a while with the release of the NMFBM.) You could almost sell the LE for 2 CGs and have one to butcher and one for the safe, just a thought.

I wouldn't do it...but it is YOUR knife.
I would think about it for a few weeks before I did anything if I were you.

edit- I would do it to a FFBM before I would an LE

Do whatever will make it comfortable and more appealing for ya. I lost count of how many Busse s I have modified to my liking.. I am currently working on sanding down the middle hump on my sarsquatch so it does not feel like a golf ball in my palm..

As long you are not owning the blade for investment purposes grind on!

Sell the FBMLE, buy a FFBM and mod away with an extra $300 in your pocket.

I agree with selling your LE. Especially if it is mint. Even if it is a user, you could sell it, and get a FFBM to mod, and have a few hundred left over to buy a smaller edc.

That said, I do have a modded FBMLE, but I did not do the mods my self. I got it that way, so there was no worrying about it for me.

Siegle smoothed the handle scales, ground an un sharpened top clip, and sharpened it. So anything I do to is gravy.

Mod it. You improve your house? Your car? I do and both are worth many times what an FBMLE commands now and in the near future.
