I'm going to buy a new knife and I want some input. First of all, they're NOTHING alike so there's no need to point out the obvious. I'm not buying a knife for a specific need (other than just enjoyment) so F&F and general coolness are more important than some specified task.
I think I'm either going to get a Hest Folder 2.0 or a Spyderco Smallfly w/ g10 handles. I've ogled both of them for a while and can't decide. They cost about the same. I work in an office and almost never do any serious cutting tasks. Could get by with a vic classic if I wanted.
Smallfly - I don't own any balisongs, but like the smallish size of this one. I know how to flip them so I'm semi-attacted to this knife. Just kind of a neat looking knife. Downside would be that I might look kind of strange using a knife like this in public. Eventually, it might drive me crazy that I never carry it for that reason.
Hest folder - I've been attracted to this knife since they came on the scene a year or so ago. Very cool looking. They seem to have worked out the kinks. Looks like a big, solid folder and I've recently sold all of my big solid folders. Kind of the same downsides as the smallfly, but not so verbotten in public. It's almost certainly more knife than I need.
Any input appreciated.
