I have an Izula and thinking of getting either a 4 or 6 but can't decide which one. I practically live in the wilderness so just looking for a good all around knife. So...which one?!

if you have an Izula for small tasks, the -6 is not that big a stretch.
OTOH, a -4 and decent Hatchet will do anything a -6 can do and then some, the hatchet just weighs more. :)

I had the 3 and the handle wasn't quite large enough for the blade imho. Hopefully, I will have a 6 in my paws soon.

I would go with the 6 because it will eliminate the need to carry an axe. In my opinion a large knife will do 90% of the chopping that a small axe will plus it will do plenty that the axe can't. The 4 is a good compromise between big and small, but the IZULA should cover any small tasks, so I would go bigger. Either way your on track to get a great knife!

I'd go with the 4. It was my first and I wanted to a good general purpose knife that was easy to control for finer work, but could be used to baton firewood if need be. It is light weight, comfortable to carry on the belt and is a great blade overall.

I have a 6 that I really like, but it is not a chopping blade and if my priority were processing of firewood, I would carry a hatchet. I find it to be a little light for chopping as most might agree.

With that said the 6 is a hoss of a knife and if you think you would have more use for a larger blade, the 6 is a great contender.

If you live in or near the wilderness, go with the 6" blade. It's not heavy or unwieldy at all, and can do it all. Just my opinion.

i would say a 4 and a hatchet, you will find that combo way less work intensive and far more versatile for woods wandering

ESEE rc-6 is the single greatest knife in the line up. Strangle the choil and its like using a 5 inch blade for technical work. Grab the handle and you get 7 inch blade capability. You need to hold and use it to really appreciate it's balance. My main user for sure. KNIFEABILITY-a must for all humans

This is my opinion: a 4''-bladed knife canNOT chop, you will need a folding saw or an axe to take down anything over 2'' thick unless you're very imaginative. A 6''-bladed is the beginning of a light chopping tool, it will be outchopped 10 to 1 by any small hatchet but "will do" if you really need that in those 1 or 2 branch-clearing situations you encounter during an hike. So, I believe the 6 is a bit more of an allaround tool overall, while the 4 is easier to carry or put in a pocket or bag. Given that, you'll probably end up getting both sizes sooner or later so... :D Both knives are NO substitute for an axe or hatchet anyway.

I vote for the 6. If you're going to only get one (for now) then go with the one designed as a general all-'rounder. :)

If your looking for a "wilderness" blade go with the 6. I got the ESEE kit with it and couldn't be happier! Plus I dont have to lug my axe around anymore. If your looking for an all around blade the 4 is just a bit better for finer work but you have an izula. 6! all the way!

i had the same dillema, but i decided the amount of smaller tasks outweighed the amount of larger tasks i was likely to encounter so i went with the 4.
but it may be the opposite for yourself,

Go for the 6, because it's easier to tackle small tasks with a big knife (and you already have an Izula) than to try to tackle big wood tasks with a smaller knife. The RC4 and your Izula might overlap in function just a teeny little bit IMO.
