Help me displace my mini grip

Ever since I got a mini grip, I haven't been able to stop carrying it. When I carry other knives, I miss my mini grip. I need something to get it off my mind! Will be used for light use EDC.

List of wants:
Blade under 3.5", preferably under 3.25"
Black pocket clip, preferably deep carry (or capable of getting deep carry, like benchmade customer service did for my mini grip :))
Steel handle liners
Under $175 ish
Not a polymer handle
Relatively good steel (comparable to 154CM, or a little better)
Not a recurve blade
Stonewash or satin finish blade
Preferably made in USA

Any of these wants are subject to change, but they're good general guidelines.

Knives I'm considering so far:
Spyderco:
Gayle Bradley
Caly 3 ZDP
Sage 1

Benchmade:
707 Sequel
482 Megumi
Maybe another mini grip, like a ritter or a custom shop one....:o

Others:
CRKT Ripple 2
Cold Steel Code-4
Boker Kwaiken
Buck Vantage Avid
Emerson CQC-7
Mcusta Gentleman's Knife
Mcusta Katana (Yeah right, like I can find one in stock)

These are the ones I've looked at off the top of my head, so my question is which one (or what other knife) will finally kick my mini grip out of my pocket?

Get a full sized Grip. Only the big brother can make the mini grip sit back in it's shadow :D

For just slightly more than your $175 budget, you could get a basic one and set it up with some Cuscadi scales. Mine's currently wearing black micarta with the blue glow in the dark G10 spacer. It's a sexy blade :)

Exactly what I was thinking.

By the way, if you like your mini grip so much, why do you want to replace it?

Get a Ritter Mini-RSK® Mk1... you'll quickly forget about the other one.

The Boker Kwaiken is on your list and a fine choice. And it's a modder's dream. Mine is acid stonewashed with bronzed liners and clip, flipper mod and LSCF. Wonderful knife. Also check out the new Federal flipper by Boker. Another gem. Another that comes to mind is the BM 940/943.

I've been tempted many times, but for some reason the full size grips don't feel right to me. Maybe the cuscadi scales would make the difference though...

As long as I have a love affair with the mini grip, my other blades don't get any attention :( I get excited about buying new knives, but I don't ever carry them because of it. It makes collecting a little less fun if I don't carry different knives all the time.

Spyderco Bradley folder (C134CF) with a 3.4" CPM M4 blade, CF/G10 laminated handles and steel liner lock (made in Taiwan). I actually prefer it to the Spyderco Military and Para-Military 2. If I were to have just one manual Spyderco this would be it. Remember the Para2 has a compression lock on the back of the handle.

I have a mini ritter and carry it as much as any of my folders. Out of your list of potential replacements, my choice would be the Caly 3 zdp.

That Federal looks very interesting, I like the uniqueness of the pocket clip.

Thanks for the comparison, the PM2 is actually one of the ones that I bought and haven't carried much because of the mini grip.

Ok that explains it.

Have you checked out the Spyderco Resiliance? Nice little folder, about the same size as the mini grip.

The kershaw Leek is also a good one.

I keep looking at the AG Russell Gentlemen's Framelock, VG10 and Ti scales. It has a flipper and a thumbstud which is the only thing throwing me off as I'm not a huge fan of flippers.

Alternatively.... you can get a small Rat II for $27.00, I purchased one a month ago... wow what a great knife!
Opens as smoothly as the Ritter Mini Grip and with barely a push on the stud.
Has a great sound when it locks open, any one that has one knows that sound.

I used to edc a benchmade mini grip, so I'm going to suggest to you the knife that ousted it from my pocket...and it's probably not even on your radar. Spyderco Dragonfly 2! Comes in many different steel and handle variations! Don't dismiss this little knife! It's awesome! Whether it replaces the grip or not, u will never regret buying the dragonfly!

I'd say if you like the Mini that much try another, Ritter maybe. I personally really like the 555.
