I just got my HEST today! I don't have pics right now, but I'll upload them soon.

That said, it's time to fill up those scales. So far I have rolled up a bandaid and put it in there (you never know), put two washers on the paracord and attached it to the pommel, and pinned a set of Bogota lockpicks (made by raimundo from lockpicking101 forums, for any lock enthusiasts out there) to the paracord. I'll be going for more of an urban survival kit since I live in NY.

So let's hear some ideas. Feel free to post individual items or entire lists/kits.

I've got mine filled with one purpose: FIRE.

Some strike anywhere matches...I think about six that I cut shorter, a tiny firesteel, and I think I also fit two of those compressed cotton tinder tabs, all in a plastic bag.

The plastic bag does two things, resists water and also takes up any extra space to stop any rattle.

I would have to agree with DH1. I wont go anywhere without fire starting capabilities. And I spend most of each day in the city. You just never know when you might need it. The Rat/ESEE website has small fire steels. A little difficult to work with, but practice makes perfect.

I considered that, but I carry my zippo on me every day. Though, it would probably be best to have an absolutely reliable backup fire starter.

Hundred dollar bills, the numbers to your AMEX Black card (don't forget the CID), and a cyanide pill if the above doesn't get you out of the jam you're in.

Oh, an L Pill, marvelous. For the more adventurous, perhaps a simple Mexican Quaalude will suffice. :D

I think that ferro rod is an excellent water purification pill. The gift that keeps on giving. :D
