My Dad served in the Gulf War and recently got his Ka-Bar stolen out of his truck. I know Ka-Bar wasn't standard issue during the Gulf War, but that was his knife of choice anyway. He had it all these years until now, and I was looking forward to him passing it on to me and then me to my son after that. Unfortunately, it was stolen.

So, I'm looking for a replacement to give him as a gift. I don't know much about the Ka-Bar steel used then vs. now. I also don't know how the handle differs from then vs. now. I'd love to get some help to find one as close to his original as I could.

Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, you can’t replace the knife. Whatever you get, no matter how similar, would still be a replica of the original. It would never be the knife that he carried during the war.

For that reason, I would focus on getting him the best knife rather than the same knife.

Fair point. I have a Spartan Ka-Bar, so I thought about getting him one of those. But, he's an old dude, and I think he'd appreciate a "similar" or same year or whatever Ka-Bar. I've been sifting around eBay, maybe I'll find one there.

You know, I didn't even think to look on there. I did find one close to his original year. Maybe that'll go through. Thanks for the recommendation.
