Looking for a new knife. Here is what I'm looking for:

- As close to a 3" blade as I can get (2 3/4" would be ideal...)
- Frame Lock
- Good blade steel (anything at or "above" 440C)
- Pocket Clip
- Flat ground blade
- Utility style blade profile

My budget is $150 or less. I would prefer to stay under $100.

As of right now, I'm looking at the Ti/ZDP Kershaw Mini Cyclone.

What else is out there?

Thanks!

My choice there would be:

1. Non Assisted
2. Assisted w/ option to turn off
3. Assisted

Being assisted only won't stop me from buying a knife, but I'd prefer non or option first.

Oh! Also, no Leek's please. Already have one, dun really like it. :)

I love my SOG twitch 2, Its assisted with a switch to turn off. Has a unique almost open lockback design wich will shed dirt and clog less. Comes with aus8, but SOG's heat treat with this steel seems to perform better than others .For me at least.

You must have completely missed that I'm looking for a frame lock...

Look at Boker's Trance. It's what you're looking for, I'm sure.
Lycosa

Interesting. Not much a fan of Aus8 though...

For a $30 frame lock, what do you guys think between the Trance and a BM Monochrome?

I've been searching for knives for the past hour or so. Nothing is sparking my interest more than the Mini Cyclone...

I did look at the Alias a bit, but even $150 is pushing it.

I've been carrying $50 Spyderco's for years. I love the ruggedness of them but kinda wanted something a little more "refined." Thats where a nice Ti framelock comes in.

Problem is, I use my knives and I have little experience with S30V and no experience with ZDP. I hear they are both prone to chipping...

Too many choices! :)

Keep the opinions flowing.

Get the ZDP-189 & titanium Mini-Cyclone!! Trust me on this!! I have NEVER had ANY of my S30V blades chip. I DID have my Caly, Jr w/ ZDP-189 chip with light use.

The ZDP chipping is what scares me...

I would say my knives regularly go beyond "light use." I don't abuse them, but I don't baby them either.

My pockets are too loaded down as it is with a phone, keys, wallet, flashlight and gun that I generally only have room for one knife. :)

It is tempting though...

I like the benchmade H&K Ally I ordered
AUS 8 though
it has a smooth opening blade
nice design and is 2.80 inches or there about of blade.
Can't remember what lock design it is right now.

If you don't mind steel handles, maybe you should look into the Spyderco Volpe. It's a frame-lock, but the blade might be a tad too big.

ive done things with my zdp mini cyclone blade that would chip it if it was going to chip-

i still think the mini zdp cyclone is the best bang for the buck under 150$
