Recommendation? Help me find a backspacer for a Stretch 2 ?

Sent this (assembled) ZDP 189 Stretch 2 into Spyderco for a sharpening and requested a new back spacer to replace the stock unit, which appears to be melted or squished. The action of the lock is very weak and the blade can be shaken loose easily from closed.

Anyway I was told that Golden doesn’t stock parts for Japanese models due to changes made to model lines over the years, which surprised me since I have had parts replaced before on a Delica.

This leaves me with a need for an aftermarket solution. I sent an email to Cuscadi whose response was iffy due to uncertainty of fit, are there any suggestions from the Spyderco fan group that can point me in the right direction?

I thought about offering to send the whole knife to Germany so Cuscadi could fit the part to the knife, or maybe scales too but would be escalating costs. Better than a useless knife yes but I would prefer to keep it as inexpensive as reasonably possible.

BOOMER52 BOOMER52 Did a set of Stretch scales and back spacer, for me.

Steve might be able to or have a back spacer?

Or I have the stock scales and backspacer, from my Hap40 Stretch, if you're interested

Don’t want to derail the thread but I am interested in those orange hap40 stretch scales if you are wanting to part with them.

I do happen to have a brand new set of stock FRN scales and back spacer in British Racing Green sitting on the finish bench. Came off a ZDP189 Stretch2 that I plan to machine custom scales for. I have no need for them...

Make sure to post the custom scales here. Stretch is a fine knife, late model 1 or 2.

Steve (Boomer52) came through for me, and now I have my ZDP189 Stretch 2 in working order. Thank you so much for your kind gesture sir. I don’t ever want to take apart another FRN backlock unless absolutely necessary.

You are quite welcome!

The disassembly and assembly of any of the Spyderco backlock knives is a simple matter as long as you know that the lock bar is the first to come out during a disassembly... and the last to go in during assembly!😁
