Looking for precision in the Carbide guide.
Looking for a 1hp that can be used with my KBAC controller. 9" 1-5 deg angle disc sander. Plan on using the KBAC to power the Ameribrade and Disc Sander.
Oh Yeah a Decent Makers Nark stamp ... Guess I didn't keep enough stuff!!!

Yes, I've got a Bruce bump fine guide. It's fantastically well made and pretty accurate.

What do you want DC for the motor? If you want it to run your belt sander you need AC probably...

Bruce Bump and Uncle Al.

I am also wondering why you want a DC motor for your grinder and disc setup? You want a TEFC 3phase 220VAC motor. They are readily available almost everywhere.

I run a 1hp DC motor because I got two for free. I expect at some point he got a controller and doesn't want to replace it also. If you are near SW VA I have an extra motor I may part with.

Back in the early days of Beaumont Metal Works, Frink was recommending DC VS for the KMG and disc grinders because of the constant torque. For better or worse, my first KMG and my disc are both DC VS, 2HP/220VAC and 1 HP/120VAC respectively. They're still running like when I got them, so no complaints after almost 20 years of use.
Times changed, though. My 2nd KMG just a couple years later has a 2HP 3Ph AC motor and a KBA27D (?) controller.

Yeah it would totally work but since he's wanting to use one controller for multiple grinders that's why I was asking... All the motors would need to be compatible. I do like the low end torque that DC gives.

I have two Bader 3's. One DC and one AC 3ph both with KB variable speed drives. I much prefer the AC 3ph as it runs faster and has more power.

Thanks all Not running two grinders just a grinder and a Disc Sander using one controller.
Had a DC Disc sander 9" some time ago and being reversible was a great help.
Cleaned up flat grinds in a hurry!

Is that KBAC controller for DC? Most KBAC drives we see here are AC is why folks are asking why DC? "IF" your KBAC drive is DC, then that would explain the desire for a DC motor.

I got one of the newer style Brian Bump carbide guides for Christmas this year. I've only used it twice so far, but it's pretty phenomenal. I really like that the carbide inserts are dovetailed so they won't pop out, while still being replaceable.

I use a dc motor for my disc sander and love it. Way cheaper set up. Here is a link to the one I use. https://www.amazon.com/ PLEASE - No sales links to non-Bladeforuns sites
I got a

KB KBPC-240D (9338) DC motor speed control, input 115/230VAC, output 0-90/180VDC

Yaetek Permanent Magnet Dc Motor, TEFC, 1/2hp, 56c, 90v/1750rpm

Works great and not a lot of money
