From least costly to pricey, production knives I own in the general category of "bushcraft/outdoor" knife in the 4 inch range, with a drop point blade, and a spine thickness of 3/16 in are: Becker BK16 - 4.5 in, carbon steel: $80CAN. Cold Steel Master Hunter - 4.5 in., stainless: $119CAN. Fallkniven FI - 3.75 in., stainless: $159CAN. 1) The Becker has crappy cheap grivory scales and a so-so cordura sheath. Overall fit and finish is very average, and it doesnt come sharp sharp out of the box. Micarta scales are available for a hefty price as an upgrade. Has a pommel. Overall good value. 2) The Master Hunter has a textured thermorun handle and an excellent "Conceal-X" sheath (think Zytel). Outstanding fit and finish. Razor sharp out of the box. No exposed pommel. Overall good value. 3) The Fallkniven is very similar in all respects to the Master Hunter. Slight differences in handle design. Ugly butt sheath with a so-so fit to the knife. Convex (better) grind than the MH. Slightly exposed pommel. So-so value. You are paying for the name to quite an extent. I did not include ESEE in this list as I think they are grossly overpriced for the 1095 steel used. Again, with ESEE, you are paying a lot for the "name" and the warranty. Excellent knives, though...
