I am in search of knives of this opening style. For those of you that dont know, this is about the fastest deployment knife design made. As you draw it from you pants, the little "nub" on the top of the blade will grab your pants, and pull the blade open as you draw it. Your index finger is in the largest hole, and as you draw it, it opens, and goes straight to the palm of your hand. Makes an automatic knife seem slow.

I am looking for this style, I cant afford to drop this kind of cash on one, just wondering if there are some other quality, and less expensive makes out there of the same design.

My gun range has some $20 Knock-offs, but id like to get a quality one.

That's the "wave" feature. There's a waved version of the Spyderco Endura. There's also the waved Delica which should be even cheaper

Waved Delica and Endura are awesome knives, and Spyderco's version of the wave actually works better than the original Emerson design.

I have waved versions of :

- Emerson Commander
- Spyderco Endura
- Spyderco Delica

I have other knives, but find myself carrying my waved pieces far more often. My advice would be to save up if you have to and pick up either the Delica or Endura. They're worth way more than their retail price.

The models that I am seeing dont have the large hole for your index finger like the one I posted, the only ones I see are regular handles.
Dont suppose anyone would have a link?

The "large hole" you mention is specific to a particular style of knife called a "kerambit" (or "karambit," can be spelled either way).
The "nub" you mention is commonly referred to as the Wave opening system, developed (or at least popularized) by Ernest Emerson of Emerson Knives, Inc.
Although the Wave is used on many types of knife, and although there are many companies who produce a good quality kerambit, Emerson Knives is the only company I know of that makes a high-quality kerambit with the Wave.

Hope this helps.

just to add:
the K-bit always has a curved, relatively short blade. There is a very small number of knives though, that have the K-bit inspired ring but a straight blade. Really only available from a few custom makers. Most are fixed blades and to my knowledge none has the wave.

If you can forget about the Wave or dremel it in yourself, the Mantis Knives kerambit isn't a bad choice.

If you get a knife from EKI you're getting a quality product from the guy who invented the wave. If you get one from Spyderco you're also getting a quality product by a company who worked out a deal with EKI. You get one from another company and chances are you're getting a knife from a company who doesn't mind stealing anothers idea and profitting from it.

Also, Emerson (EKI) makes a kerambit-style knife (ring in the handle) with various blade shapes, all of which have the Wave feature.

If you want a Karambit and you like the wave, get a cheap knife which fulfills your urgent needs until you have SAVED UP ENOUGH MONEY TO GET AN EMERSON (the one in the link you posted). It's definitely gonna be worth it, it's an excellent knife.
The wave is cool, but it's luxury, it's nothing that you need for regular use. If you need a knife right away for daily use, buy a cheap one and then save up money for the real thing, instead of getting some cheap piece of junk knockoff.
Save up money and get an Emerson.

that is the karambit featured in "The Punisher"

if it is the wave feature you like emerson is the only one on the market without getting a knockoff. there are only a few quality folding karambits on the market that i would trust.

5:11 tactical gear makes the Tarani models and spyderco had one, other than that you are left with cheapies of questionalble quality imo.
