Hey everyone,

I am in the midst of a deal that will introduce me to my first Busse! I have made a deal in the exchange, here on BF that has land me a Busse Muddy Active Duty.

I'm curious if anyone can recommend a good place to buy a nice leather sheath. i want to get something that is high quality and will last! however, i'm not looking to spend a fortune. It doesn't have to be customized or made from rare materials.

Any help would be appreciated. If you know the price range please also include it.

Thanks.

Nice score. The AD is a fine blade. There are many sheathmakers that can help you out. Dwayne (leatherman on bladeforums) does fantastic work, as do several others. Rainwalker, Mikeymoto and chuddybear come to mind. Odds are they will have a AD so that you don't have to ship your knife to them.

Look them up, all of them make heirloom quality sheaths that will last you a lifetime.

thanks everyone, i'll start doing my homework now... it seems there will be a lot to look at.

I just did a quick survey of a few leather sheath makers. Most didn't need my knife but the turn around time was 4-6 weeks. Which includes Chuddy bear. I may go with Savage Leather Sheaths. I've seen his sheaths around here often. His work seems right in the middle of spending a fortune and getting decent work at affordable prices. His page doesn't list a ton of Busse knives, but he quoted me a turn around time of 5 days. I don't mind shipping my knife if its only 7 to 10 days turn-around total.

I guess some of these more popular guys have huge orders to fill. I didnt want to wait close to 2 months.

thanks for the info. are you looking for an Active Duty sheath also? I like the ones i just saw on his website, although i didn't see one for active duty (obviously that doesn't mean they're unavailable), but i would still like to see a sample.

No I'm not. Looking for a SAR3 sheath. He may have a photo he can show you. I just found out he doesn't need my knife, as its similar to the SAR4 so he can match that. He's probably (maybe) done an AD sheath, so you might be in the same boat. Very reasonable prices for little blades... and bigger ones.

Thanks everyone! The sheaths should be there very soon, they were sent a couple of days ago, but the alcohol fog in the box may set Skunk back a few days due to the contact high. :D

Well I hope he gets mine out soon. :D

Rainwalker
He does amazing work, nothing seems impossible with him.

We are blessed with many awesome leather makers for Busse knives.

My time to complete orders has gone through the roof in the past 6 months and in fact I am not accepting new orders at is time. My day job and other commitments are preventing me from making realistic estimates for sheath completion times.

I recommend Dwayne of Armoralleather or Chuck of Chuddy Bear Leather because they both make good stuff and I respect that they are "in the family"! I own representative work from both of them and it is well made.

Without a doubt there are plenty of very good leather guys most have already been mentioned in this thread and you will not be disappointed with any of them.

I like to stick with one guy so that all my sheaths are consistent in look and construction. In my case, Rainwalker is my go to guy for leather pants. His work is fantastic.

A small sample for your viewing pleasure :)

RainWaker,,Cuddy Bear, or Martin Sheaths all do great work,,Good Luck in your hunt

i love these... how can i order one? i tried looking up a website, and my browser told me i have to download something. I can't seem to get the site to work.

What is the price range?

Also, does anyone know if there is a premade BAD sheath, or would i have to send in the knife?

Thanks.

We have many Leather Sheath makers on the website:)

and we LOVE them :thumbup::thumbup:

BTW...Chuddybear sheaths are amazing also...note to self put his fine work on the website:)

Here's a Armoral Leather pouch sheath I quite like. Rounded bottom to not scream knife and doesn't hang up on things when sitting. Rides horizontal or vertical. Perfect size sheath for your AD.
