im new here, i found this forum and thought it seemed like a good one. :)

first off i dont know much about knives, i am looking for a knife to carry with me. either if im hiking or just messing around the house, i just want a good universal knife.

some of my requirements are:
it has to be a folding knife with a lock
i want around a 2.5" blade length
it has to be a slim design
it has to have some kind of low profile pocket clip
it has to be decent quality, i dont want junk

i dont want to spend a lot of money on this knife either, maybe $20 or so. im getting married and am thinking about getting the knife for my groomsmen along for myself too. i found a knife that i really like but it does not have a pocket clip. here is the link to the knife.

i would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out here, im just wanting a nice basic sleek carry knife.

thanks alot!

It might be a little longer than what you are looking for, but what about a Benchmade MinGriptilian? You can get them custom from Benchmade's site. Great carry knifes. IMHO, the best EDC folder out there on the market.

Ka-bar dozier designed folding knife, CRKT drifter. you could look at sanremnu knives, they are cheap but have decent quality for the price.

Kershaw Cryo. Just 1/4" over 2.5".

Frame lock
Deep carry clip
Slim design
Made in China, but great quality
$25-$30

Ontario rat2, spyderco persistence or kershaw cryo are 3 extremely great knives for around the $30 mark

Kabar Dozier is what I would suggest. The Spyderco folders are very slim however, but most are outside your budget constraint. Maybe the Spyderco Byrd line that are imported might work and they're pretty good knives. Most of the knives in the $20 price range are going to be imported.

thanks for all the quick replies! i like some of the ones you all posted, there is definitely a lot of knives out there. i been researching some more, here is another one i kind of like. im not sure if this style has a name or not but i like the strait type blade like the gerber i posted above. here is the knife, but again it has no belt clip. btw im not crazy about the handle but i just wanted to point out the style blade i like.

Recommendations are more brands really... On the more affordable side you can get a Kershaw pretty cheap and they are good blades... There are too many to really mention that fit your criteria... Kershaw Chive, Skyline, and Cryo.... those may not be exactly what you want (price and size) but they have my recommendation. Next would be KA-BAR's Dozier Folders... Lots of colors and some blade choices... at less than a Jackson, they are a heck of a value... Look at Svord Mini Peasants for something completely different (have not handled one myself, but they are small friction folders this would probably be last on my list)... Then if you want to spend a little more... Check out the Delicas, and Dragonflys from Spyderco... Good value, Good steel, good quality... just cost a bit more.... these are my recommendations, I assure you, any of these you will be very happy with.

CRKT Lake 111 with Brass liners. Classy little knife, slim, 2.5in blade, 6in overall, only weighs 2 ounces and best of all it's only $17 online shipped.

The exact one I'm talking about is the: Columbia River Knife and Tool 7254 Lake 111 Aluminum 2 Folding Knife

Can't tell you where to get it since that's deal spotting and against the rules here but if you search properly you should find it with ease.

Edit: It is likely to be of noticeably higher quality than the Gerber you posted and I'd bet it's better than that SOG too. It's actually discontinued as well so it might be a nice one from a collector's outlook as well.

i took a look at all of them knives, thats alot for the help guys. i really like the CRKT Lake 111. although now i might of changed changed my mind on the size i want. after looking i found that they make a CRKT Lake 111 that has a 3" blade and is 4.125" closed. my question is, do you all think that is still a good size for a carry knife? i dont want it to be completely massive in my pocket as i will be carrying other things at times. i really like these knives though, they are very nice looking and i love the brass, it just looks like a very nice knife for the price.

here is the knife im looking at (like Egnar said, you can find it for a lot cheaper if you look around) whats your opinions?

ka bar dozier all kinds of colors and blade types for 20 dollars not a bad steel i just got a pink one for my girlfriend and got a zombie green one for myself

if you can hold off a little bit and get a 40ish dollar knife the Kershaw skyline is absolutely amazing its slim and light, locks up nice, opens very smooth. blade is a bit bigger then your listing but its still a great knife. its one of kershaws best sellers for a reason

Kershaw Leek is worth every penny and fits all of your requirements. Spend a bit more and get the Leek for your special day, for yourself. Get the groomsmen cryos or one of the other lower level, cheaper kershaws. All Kershaws are good but the speedsafe USA made models are awesome.
