I have been looking around and cannot find a hot salt bath / nitrided (also known as melonite, tennifer, isonite and the like) knife. Anyone know if there are any makers or am I stuck sending in for the treatment?

I believe Ag RUSSELL's sandbox bowie and the smaller hunter models are done in some sort of salt bath and they recently had to upgrade theirbaths for the DM1 steel used.

That's a carbo-nitrided process like GLOCK .When the carbo-nitrided part is done it gets another process which makes it very wear and rust resistant.

I checked the ag Russel website and it sounds like the process they use is different than meloniting. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You may have better luck in the knife makers or maintenance forum.

Iirc, it has a range between 60 and 80 hrc depending on materials and treatment type. That's the exterior-most part and the hardness tapers off as you go from exterior surface to the inside. Also has some some of the best corrosion resistance properties for a steel.
