I need the blade to be under 2.5 inches. Maybe a wood handle or paracord. Is it possible to find one for under 30 bucks? I don't really want a neck or boot knife.

se if you can find a BM activator, theyre disco'd now but i carried one (not mine sadly, a loaner) for the better part of a year and it tackled anything i threw at it

Hmm, the Activator was discontinued?
I know the CF+Silver Twill one was... but the wood one too?
Even still, I doubt you could find one new for under $60.

Other possibilities? Hmm...
I'm not sure if the BL is sub-2.5" ... but there is a guy on YouTube who takes apart these "cheap" folders and turns them into what appears to be a decent little fixed blade... and if I recall, he sells them for $30 shipped.

Aside from that, I've got nothing for $30 or less.

For about $60, you could probably find a Buck - Mini Alpha Hunter. I'm pretty sure it would measure out to be 2.5" and it looks like it would be a pretty good user if it's shape is your thing. Sadly, mine went into a Pelican case the day it arrived and hasn't come out to play since so I can't really back that claim up.

If you are willing to part with a bit more cash, I'd look into some of Bark River's smaller offerings like a Little Creek or a Mikro Canadian.

although this is waaaaaaaaaay out of your price range, i recently got a bark river bumble bee. and it is a sweet edc fixed blade. i guess im just excited to brag about my new knife :D

Take a look at Blind Horse Knives. They have a least 3 knives that fit your criteria. Take a special look at their Frontier First patch knife.

CRKT Minimalist, available for less than $20.
1.5" Warncliff style blade. Micarta handle scales, paracord fob, kydex sheath. I don't have one, but it's next on my list...

If you don't want neck carry you could probably fit it with a mini tech-lock.
Or do the paracord loops and cord lock trick as shown in the Izula instructions...

Get the Izula. knives ship free has the best price & free shipping for under $60. I love mine & it has replaced all my folders for my EDC.

also recommend the izula. a little out of your price range but definitely worth it if you can afford it

I can recommend the CRKT fixed falcon as a good dependable user FB- I carried one working in an oilfield warehouse for over a year and it held up beautifully- did not chip, was "disposable" enough to not worry about using it. Not the best knife I owned (it was paired with a Boye Dendritic folder with Marlinspike) but performed well enough for me to keep using it above others in my collection. I don't know of availability as I am not allowed to buy CRKT and only receive them as gifts.

You have not mentioned what your intended uses are, but how about a CRKT Stubby Pocket Razel?

I've been carrying (and using) an A.G. Russell 'Woodswalker' for just over two years now. I'd STRONGLY suggest you look long and hard at one!

Gets used about a zillion times a day and hasn't disappointed or failed any task yet.

Have both the hip pocket leather sheath and the neck kydex sheath, but just drop knife and neck sheath into a front pocket. Still haven't decided which I prefer if I could only have one sheath.

Right up there with Swedish Moras, CS Bushman, Old Hickory Butcher knives and Opinals as the best bang for your Buck out there. IMHO of course. Which gives you an idea of where I'm coming from.

Reminds me, I have to order some more and 'spread 'em around', I had a spare but my wife borrowed it once, and it instantly became hers.

Good Luck in your search!

Regards,

:)

You might look at bud k, they have united cutlery knives that are relatively small. They are combat commander model, and they sell for about $ 8.98. They were marked down from $29.99. I think they are being discontinued. I bought a black one and a urban camo. one. After I got them, I wrapped the handles with paracord. The sheaths also include a generous wrapping of small shoe lace or paracord.:D

It is more than your price range listed, but I would also recommend an Izula. Great little knife, handles everything I've thrown at it, and comes backed by one of the best companies in the industry.

Spyderco Swick is about that price range and hard to beat, s30V Wharncliff blade. Have to purchase the sheath seperate, though.
