I saw a knife made by a custom knife maker named Jerry Twitty. I believe he is located in the Pacific northwest. From the example of his work, and a brief chat with the vendor, he apparently worked for Morseth Knives when they were in Washington state.

The knife was remarkably close in pattern to my 4.75-inch Harry Morseth clip point -- the one I haven't touched since purchase.

While I'm reluctant to use the Morseth -- it's probably some sort of collector's knife -- it would be great if I could have this man make one that I COULD use without regret.

I would appreciate his [business] name, address, phone, and E-mail/web address.

The last time I saw him, 6-8 years ago, he was not making knives anymore,

BUT....

Try Richard at http://www.knifemart.com/ or Jim at http://www.treemanknives.com/.

Treeman has one of Jerry's knives for sale and might be able to put you in touch. Remember, if the job requires a deposit, make it a small one, and never pay in full up front. You will live to regret it if you do.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I searched for him earlier this year. I finally went through a Knife collector's organization in the Midwest and got his email addy from them approx 6 months ago, sent an email and weeks later sent a follow up, No Response. The organization did not give me his Mailing address. He is not listed in the KNIVES Annuals nor any other publication that I have. I gave up. Good luck and let us know if you are successful.

Naphtali,
Tried to pm you but you have not selected to receive them.
But if you are still interested in contacting Jerry you could email me your
contact info and I will see that he receives it.

octihunter:

Many thanks for your reply. I have been having difficulty with Knifeforums registration. You cannot PM me and I cannot PM anybody. I cannot alter my settings to affect PM. So, again, thanks for persevering.

And please mention to Mr. Twitty that he is wanted by other prospective clients than I.

Only paying members can use the PM feature. You get that option starting with the basic membership that only cost $10.00. (Shameless forum plug)

Keith:

AHA!

The management didn't mention this to me. I would have floundered for years without knowing what I was doing wrong.

Jerry Twitty is alive and well and is still making knives. He did work for Moresth and makes knives that are very similar, so should be able to make exactly what you want. He did some work for me and it was very nice. I see him at the Washington Arms Collectors show and he lives in Washington State. Try contacting him at: jctwitty@elltel.net. Say hello for me.

John:

I've done as you recommended about a week-and-a-half ago. I, too, used to attend the show. Also the rendezvous in Monroe. I lived in Skagit county. Outside my kitchen window was a sign: Elk X-ing Next 5 Miles.

I've moved closer . . . and drier.

Octihunter has worked his magic.

BEHOLD!

Jerry Twitty and I have connected. And for this, I thank you.

Hillbillenigma: I will be corresponding with him within the next three days.

Be advised, In his reply, he identified prices ranges. These prices are comparable with any custom knife maker of good reputation. So if you are willing to pay top dollar for top quality, I'll let him know of your interest. If I do not receive confirmation, I'll say nothing to him about you.
