Help me find the 'perfect' knife

I am looking for suggestions to find the perfect knife for me. We do not have any well-stocked dealers in my area so actually handling good knives only comes around when a big gun show is in the area.

I am looking for a liner lock or other blade locking mechanism that does not put excess pressure on the blade during opening. A blade of about 3 inches, in a drop point, reverse tanto, or preferably spear point, with a brushed or matte finish. I prefer a plain blade edge or at most a combo edge. Opening should be by thumb stud. The handle would be preferably G10 or Zytel, no stainless. A clip for pocket attachment.

Of course, I want all this without spending a small fortune. I am hoping for a lot less than $100.00.

So, what knife is up to these standards? You tell me.

Thanks

it fits almost everything you said barring the satin finish.

but the price is right. drop/spear point 3" blade zytel handle. one of their best. I think they even upgraded their steel to cpm 440v?

when you mean excess pressure do you mean lock backs?

good luck

How about a CRKT S-2? Titanium handles, frame lock, ATS-34, very easy to sharpen for being ATS-34, and a very good lock up! If not, spend a little more and buy an Emerson Mini Commander. G10, titanium liners, great blade shape, and.............THE WAVE!!!! Either way, you won't be dissapointed!

$100.00??? No such thing exhists.IMO

These are close but a little more than $100.00

I'm really impressed with the rapid responses. Thanks to those who have already and to those who will respond. I own several Spydercos that I am fond of. I like the Griptilian, but like my Spydies it has a hole as an opening device. I am looking for something with a thumb stud. I want to use the knife as an addition to my personal defense equipment, opposite one of my Glocks.

Keep the sugestions coming.

Thanks again.

Find yourself a CRKT Mirage with a Wharncliff blade.Reasonable about $35.00.Their around.Sorry for the other post.

Consider the Mini AFCK-II, by Benchmade. The blade is just .25" longer, and comes in either satin (which is quite reflective for a satin finish) or the BT2 coating. It uses a thumbhole though, but you really ought to try this method of opening over that of a thumbstud...I find it much easier to open a knife with a thumbhole. Other than that, it appears to be what you need for under $100.

If you want a cheaper knife, look at the Columbia River Knife & Tool offerings. Just remember that you get what you pay for. I'd recommend the AFCK-II over the CRKT stuff anyday.
