I used to have a 940 with a satin finish serrated clip point blade with green anodized alluminum handles and I think s30v blade but now I can't find it anywhere and benchmade doesn't allow the combo when configuring it

The clip point is the 943. The 940 and 943 are the same knife with different blades styles and different colored handles or scales. The only way I know to get the green scales you want and a clip point is to by a 943 and 940 and swap blades.

Idaho RC thanks so much for that i was thinking of doing the same thing I actually got the knife I'm looking for when I graduated from Meridian High I might just have to buy both and swap them out it wouldn't be that bad of an investment in my collection either

Ross M small world then huh!

The 940 has been made for a long time in a bunch of different variations. In addition to the green 940 and black 943 currently available I can think of the carbon fiber 940-1, Cabeleas exclusive 940-1601, the Knifeworks 940-1501, the Going Gear 940-1701 and the 940-2. You might look into all of those versions they are really something.

Keep your eye on the exchange here and the auction site and you can save a few bucks from the new price. There are a couple of guys on there that make some pretty incredible scales for them also.

Awesome good to know I just joined this forum yesterday and still trying to figure everything out but I get military discount direct from benchmade so that helps a lot too

Hey Ross!! Welcome!
A few of us here prefer the 943 blade shape also, seems we're in the minority though.
You're going to have to do a swap!!
Here's a pic of one of my swaps and it's my fave 94x!!

If you buy a 940 and send it in to Benchmade for $30 they will do a blade swap to a 943 blade (serrated if you like). That would be the exact combo you had. I have done the opposite of what you want. I had a 943 I sent in and had a 940 blade installed on it. The reason they will do these swaps is because both of those configurations were produced by Benchmade at one time. They wont just build you a custom knife like say a 943 on a 940-1 or some other combo. Anyway that is by far the best solution to get the knife you had. Just be specific in the notes when you send it in. I would suggest calling first as well. That's what I did. Just find you a used 940 off the exchange and your set.

I had a 940 with green, anodized handle and combo blade, but the blade was in 154CM. I bought it new around 2004/2005. I sold it a few years ago, as I prefer a plain blade, so now have the excellent 940-2.

I will look into that bit I get military discount from them at factory so I think I'll just pay for the brand new one it's a knife I don't think anyone should ever part with

But you can't actually purchase the knife you lost new anymore. Its not produced anymore. You could get a brand new one and send it in for a blade swap. Same difference but you can't actually purchase the knife you lost without sending it in. That is unless you run across one on here or ebay or somewhere.

I meant that I was going to buy a brand new one and send it in and get the blade swapped out I understand the likelyhood of finding my old knife new odds are next to inpossible I just didn't elaborate enough I apologize have a wonderful day and thank you again

Your 940/943's are a very nice collection I really like the 430 with the blue it's very classy I just use my knives so much that I wear the black coating off and it ends up looking like shit that's the only reason I get the blades in satin finish when ever possible
