I made new covers for a stockman, which is my first traditional knife project with two blades on one pivot. I finally had to come in defeated- I can't get the pin through the two blade side since I can't get everything lined up:mad:
I can't find any videos that help me, so does anyone want to share some advice or maybe some pictures or video with me?? Please??

Thanks!

Try tapering the end of the pin you are inserting to a point. You should be using a pin that is longer than necessary anyway, then after you get it threaded through, cut it to the length you need to leave just enough for peening.

The end is pointed, and I had no problem getting the rocker pin and the single blade side together so I know everything fits. I can't get the pivots of the two blades to line up, they keep moving.

Try a small clamp or hold them in a vise. Then use a lubricate when inserting the pin. Stainless to stainless doesn't rub well. It will stick. DM

I have tried using a clamp, but the problem is lining up both blades. I have read about clamps that were/are used in knife factories, does anyone know where to get one?

How about disassembling the rocker/center pin and assembling the ends with the blades open?
Once you have the ends together, compress the springs with a padded vise and insert your center/rocker pin.

Install the blades. Then, compress the backspring(s) in a vise and tap the backspring pin through. This is the only practical way to do it.

Thanks! I don't know how I had not thought to put the blades in first and then compress the springs to put in the rocker...
