I've recently acqured two knives with minor rust problems. Any advice in dealing with these problems is appreciated.
First, A bead-blast blade with a lot of very tiny rust colored spots (I assume actual rust on a kniofe cleaned and washed and not put away totally dry. ATS-34, I think.
Second, An O-1 mirror polished blade with some 1/4" to 1/3" wide rust colored spots.
Help me make these knives look great.
Thanks,
Davy

If you want to send me the bead blasted one, I'll clean it up and reblast it for you. No charge, just cover the return postage.

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!http://www.nebsnow.com/L6steel
Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms!!!

On the mirror polished blade, you might try Lead Away cloth and then polish with some Flitz on a soft cloth (diaper?).

A tip from a british horology (clockmaking), site was to use strong tea to remove light rust.

Why am I good enough to fix my mistakes, but not good enough to keep from making them in the first place?

the ats knife will probably come clean with a light polishing with cloth and some flitz or soemthing like that, but the 01 is probably stained for life, unless you grind the spot out....just the facts maam (dick tracy)

Thanks every one for all the suggestions. I guess it's off to the store because I have few of these materials on hand.
Thanks again,
Davy

Er, ah, Tom...Jerry Hossom wants me to tell you that 'just the facts, ma'am' was a phrase used by Lt. Joe Friday on 'Dragnet,' not Dick Tracy.
