I bought this beauty Boker Copperhead today. Box says "2626 WBB". I believe the scales are some kind of bone. They are an orange-brown if it doesn't show well in the picture. Also, master blade has "King Cutter" imprint instead of normal "TREE BRAND" imprint. Never seen this before. Do I have something special? Regardless, I think it's a gorgeous knife. Thanks for any info.

I don't know if it's "special" but it sure is a nice looking knife. I'd say regardless of whether it's rare, you scored yourself a good one.

HI Kgeter. Great looking knife. It has the current Boker tang stamp. 2626 is the pattern number for Copperhead and, not surprisingly, the WBB stands for wavey brown bone. I have seen some old Boker razors with the name King Cutter. Perhaps they are resurecting that name. It has carbon steel blades which lots of people like for using. IMO a good knife. s-k

Ah, Wavy Brown Bone, of course! I bought it at Shofner's World of Knives in Albuquerque (plug). The man behind the counter was well educated in carbon steel slipjoint lore. He was a bit surprised to have a customer that shared his enthusiasm.

I like to find brick-and-mortar knife shops when I travel (I'm on a business trip now). These folks need our support, especially the rare ones that carry more than the Lord of the Rings swords and Rambo knives. I shy away from buying slipjoints sight unseen because of my pet peeve: I hate it when the springs aren't flush with the bolsters when the blade is extended. I've seen this on way too many slipjoints. This is something that should fail quality control before it leaves the factory IMHO.

Wait, I had sent a message to Boker about this knife, and here is the reply:

> This is a bone handle WBB stands for Washboard bone. First production run
> was 600 pieces, The King Cutter etch is a very old Boker blade etch
> reproduction. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

So, WBB is "Washboard Bone". Maybe I have something a bit unique after all.

Interesting. It sure is a good looking knife, and I'm not a big copperhead fan. Though I'm sloowwly being drawn more towards them. The diagonals make it realy striking.

Ah... washboard bone. I had heard of Boker wavey green and red bone before or maybe those were washboard as well? Glad you found the right answer. Sorry about that. It is a very nice looking knife. s-k

Would this bone scales pattern be a way to try and make it look like rams horn?
Or is it a pattern of its own?

/ Karl
