I have a knife that has a 6 inch blade. It says master tanto cold steel on one side and the other side says San Mia. It has brass in the middle and brass at the end of the handle it says Japan not made in Japan and it has a black cover. I don’t know how to send pictures

Its a Cold Steel Master Tanto with brass guard/pommel and laminated San Mai III blade. Not sure what else you would need to know, but if you go to the Cold Steel subforum, there is a Tanto History sticky thread that can provide more info.

It's Cold Steel knife .
Your short answer makes me feel like I’m a moron. I came to this site to learn more about this particular knife. It said commando knife. I don’t know what that means. It said cut hard surfaces. These were the things that I wanted to know. I will just move on to a different site thank you

Use a third party photo site like Imuger or Postimages and post a picture , that would help a lot .

You asked what the knife was, you got what seems to be the correct answer.
Google Cold Steel Master Tanto with brass guard and you'll get all the info you need. What more do you want?
Where did it say "commando knife" or "cut hard surfaces"? There was nothing in the first post about that.
Sounds like an Ebay listing from someone who has no clue what the knife is.

To be fair, you didn't ask to learn more in the OP, you simply asked for identification, which was provided. I also pointed you to a thread that provides history on the Cold Steel Tanto series product line. Without being more specific with your questions, not sure what else you were expecting.

postimages.org is super easy to use. I would suggest getting a few pics up and checking out the CS subforum with your question. It may be a Master Tanto. It may be a fake? It's hard to say without getting knowledgeable eyes on it.

Does it look like this? And can you see the lamination line running above the edge? If so, it is real. This is from the history thread I mentioned.

Do as you please , but if you can trouble yourself to go to the Cold Steel sub-forum , right here on Blade Forums you can find a wealth of expert information .

Posting some pictures would help detect a counterfeit and give an idea when it was made . Sheath also and some close-ups of both sides writing on the blade .

Cold Steel sub-forum direct link to make going there very simple without trying to find it:

If you chose to stick around, you’ll find that properly formulated questions will give you the answer you’re looking for.

Check out post #3 again.

Now that people have been helpful and answered the question and provided helpful resources, I can identify the knife.

That's Jim. Jim Knife.
