I just received this today and it didn't come with anything so I'm curious about the steel used on this knife and any other info that I may need to know. Thanks in advance for the help.

Just so you know Techno, Ken is correct. He obtained this information by looking at the serial numbers on the inside of the nonlocking side.

The 08 = 2008. We know that CRK was using s30v at this time.

The letter "B" stands for the months between May- August, or the second quarter as Ken so aptly put it.

Just so you can figure it out for yourself next time.

Great score, use it in good health.

Thanks for the help guys! I tried looking it up but the c on the blade and the b confused me.

The "C" stamped in the blade is throwing me... I thought all S30V were stamped with an S and all S35VN are stamped with a V?

Really?? What parts do you think we're swapped?

Well, if it has a blade from a "Classic" Seb as indicated by the "C" stamp, and the slabs are clearly from a 21 (no "Classic MM" on the back and the chamfers are that of a 21) it seems that the blade has been swapped from a Classic Seb into a 21 frame.

Unless, at some point CRK was using leftover blades from when they discontinued the Classic, but CRK would likely have to answer that one.

I doubt they were swapped.

I would think this is the case since 2008 was the year of the change from Classic to 21.
They use slabs that don't match the card date at times, and I think thats what happened here.
They don't make all of the knife parts at the same time, and blade and/or slab can be from the year before even.

Makes sense. Either way, it is still a sweet Seb with the cool older-school hardware!
