Is this a C01 Worker?
I bought my first Spyderco Worker in '85, but it looked much different than this one ...
Can anyone help in identifying the approximate year, and manufacture story behind this for me? The clip seems to be integral to the right scale, and the name "Hoffritz" is stamped near the lanyard hole.
I guess I'm wondering if this is like the "BRK Native" that was assembled by another company ... thus the "Hoffritz" stamp?
Thanks much for any help!

hoffritz was a large cut. retailer had outlets in big malls in dallas, austin etc. i think they went under in 90,s

Definitely the "Economy" version of the C05 Standard. Spyderco got a lot of mileage out of that handle shape, it's used on the Worker, Hunter, and Harpy as well. But the Economy Standard was the only one with the clip stamped out of the handle like that.

That's it! Thank youze guys!
I paid $25 for it ...
Any idea what the approximate value might be?
I'll probably keep it either way ...

Given the condition, and that it's serrated, about what you paid for it. PE one in similar shape would be worth $5, perhaps $10, more.

Thanx Paul, I've been using your Spydie site too! Great information!

Glad you like my website. If you've found it useful, you'd find Spydiewiki even more so for historical information and time lines.

It's kind of odd, and perhaps even a bit sad how little collector interest there is in the Standard when you consider how many later Spyderco models were influenced by it.
