I have this sword given to me from a friend who wants to know what he has. Pics is the best way to show everyone. It has a wooden handle with three white round dots and three black ones in a row. This may be some sort of cutlass by the handle and guard. Blade has a R symbol with flicks running away from it. Nice designs on whole blade.

Check all 12 pics and see what you think.

Big thanks for any help.

Based on the thin stamped guard, pommel nut, and aesthetics of the piece it looks like a made-in-India tourist/flea market item. :)

Well that is possible - you would think with the blade design it would be more than that - but its quite possible. Thanks for replying :)

No problem. I know it can be disappointing to hear that it's not something valuable, but now you'll know how to spot similar pieces in the future. Even the etchings on the blade are stylistically typical of the Indian decorator swords I'm referring to. An actual functional sword would be much more substantial in the fittings, so that's your first clue. :)

Well...it's a sabre.
My uncle has three white dots tattooed on his arm, just like that. Significance? I don't know, but I'll ask him why he got it, next time I see him.
