Well, I suddenly remember from ECCKS 05 a knife that caught my eye. One of the dealers had it and it had a handle that would open "like a lady's legs" and the blade would be contained inside the handle. When you opened the handle, you could flip out the blade with ease and when you closed it, it wouldn't even resemble a knife handle at all, just another stainless steel "pill box". Any ideas?

Nope, not quite like that. Looking from the side view (handle) that would open towards you and the blade would be under that.

maybe it was the one they used to sell as a nazi folder. Its in Bernard Levine's book as a fake that a lot of people bought.A company recently put the same design out.I'm sorry I ca'nt find any pictures of it.

Still not here..though if someone would be kind enough to explain the funny folder, that might be it. (his was much older and had a THICK and rounded off handle, though)

Does the handle on the funny folder flip 180 to the other side? If it does, then nope. The handle on the one I saw popped up, swung around along with the blade, which would hit a stop.

The Bal'XYZ is the closest one so far. The handles look very close to that, but the one I saw was all SS and was at least 20 yrs old

I think I know what you're talking about then, but I have no idea what to call it. I believe Pacific Cutlery or Bali-Song (pre Benchmade) made something like it.

If it looked sort of like a Paul folder, it might be one of the knives Mike Irie made, with a split handle. It's too late for me to go hunting for a pic, though! :)

Edit: how about this?

Delta Z made a utility knife that looked like a pen that worked somewhat like that, too.

That is what I have been trying to think of, Barry Woods. Colt made a commercial copy of the knife sometime in the 70's

That's the one I was thinking of. I tried searching for it but only found the XYZ bali.
