and yes, i do brush often :)

but aparantly my bandsaw didnt have a toothbrush in china ;)

haha, im lame...i know it

anyhow, lost most of the teeth from my stock bandsaw blade. works fine for plastics, not much else though.

ive read that bi-metal are the way to go.

about how many teeth per inch do i need? i cut mostly 1/8'' stock, some a little bigger.

wheres the best place to get these blades? i'd like to order from a place where i can buy other stuff i need as well to save a bit on shipping, so a tool supplier or knife supply house would be best.

thanks

I don't claim to be an epert, as I still use a hacksaw, but my undrestanding is that you're supposed to try to get a blade that can keep three teeth in contact with the stock at all times(so 1/8" stock would require at least 24 teeth per inch)

i read that too,

cant seem to find blades other than the 18 tpi for my import special though (a harbor freight green bandsaw by the way, 64'' maybe?)

Wait until you get some more responses, there are places that custom cut blades from long rulls of bandsaw blade material, so that way you acn get high quality blades in any length

That Mayo guy is right. Lennox Diemaster 2 blades with 18 tooth per inch. They will last a good long time unless thin titanium is forced too hard and then they strip the teeth off pretty fast.

PRO BANDSAW WORKS ! These guys are the very best and you can not beat thier prices. My big saw takes a 8 foot 11 inch blade and for a 6 TPI 1/2 inch blade it costs me only $13.The can make you any thing you want and it will be shipped the next day. Thier phone # is 1-800-657-7622 or 909-654-1034.

It helps to back thin stuff with a peice of plywood or something too. If your cutting something thin it can slip in between the teeth farther and break them off.

Tom, i went to that link and they dont have the 24 tpi blades in 64 1/2'' blades,

AK, gonna call those folks today

pretty sure i need 24 tpi?

I've got the same bandsaw you do. I don't care much for the Harbor Freight blades but use them and have not had any blade teeth brake off yet that I can tell. Maybe you don't have the spring tight enough and the blade is being forced into the stock too much???

I got a couple from Grizzly that lasted a lot longer and cost about 14 bucks per.

ordered one today from Pro Bandsaw Works. $19 for a bimetal 64 1/2'' 24tpi blade.

ill report once it gets here.

Roger, i dont use the spring part much. i built a larger table to use when profiling my blades. i was cutting some really thin stuff for my pop when i striped off a good chunk of the teeth. sucks now :)
