I am planning on making my first knife, I am going to use the stock removal method as I allready have a good amount of machining experience, however, I do not know a whole lot about designing knives. I want to make a copy of the microtech vector. If anyone has one, I would really appreciate it if you could help me get pictures and dimensions of it. Thank you so much.

Thanx,
Evan Manaresi

You will need a lot more than the dimensions to make a copy of the vector. What you should do is get some books and tapes on knifemaking, read and watch them and then try making a knife. Get some practice in and then try your hand at making a knife like the Vector. Don't copy it, use it as an outline to do something original. You will be more happy with the final outcome if it was your own design.

Just some suggestions, and welcome to BladeForums. Have fun.

This may not be the best advice, start the way I did. Take a some steel, go to the grinder and pretend to grind the knife you were planning. Then have fun with and learn from the one you finish.:D .
You'll see what I mean.

Hey Danelle
That link brings you right back here, I'm I wrong
or am I wrong. Slap me..if I'm Not:confused: :)

I think what happened is that this was originally posted in a different forum and then it was moved...

I'll bet that's what it was. I can be a bit numb
at times,, most the time,,
I gotta go see were she is?

What J. Neilson said, a folder is a tall order for a first knife. It can be done, but unless you have the patience of a priest, more than likely it will bounce off the walls a couple of times, and my even make you not want to make anymore.

If your dead set on a folder though, get some books, "The Tactical Folding knife" comes to mind and go at it. You might want to get a cheap import something like what you want and use it for a patern.

Good luck and post your resuls when you finish.
