i could use some tops on how to serrigate my knifes like should i just send them off and have it done or can i do it at home

Small round files work really good for cutting in serrations. Do them before heat treating. Once you have heat treated the blade, take the same file, wrap some sandpaper around it and use this to sharpen the serrations.
You can use a small ruler and a scribe to layout the distance between the file cuts.

If a man can keep alert and imaginative, an error is a possibility, a chance at something new; to him, wandering and wondering are a part of the same process. He is most mistaken, most in error, whenever he quits exploring.

Chainsaw files work great. If you get some that are of good quality they should last quite a while if you only use them on unhardened steel.
