Help me "mount" my new Simonich Bitterroot to my new Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon pack

I thought this would be the place to start asking question about how to mount my Simonich Bitterroot (kydex sheath) to my new Black Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon backpack. I was thinking somewhere around the top of the shoulder strap where the adjustment strap hangs down OR down near the D-ring.

This is going to be an extra blade, not my primary knife (seeing that the blade is only 1 5/8" long.) I want to let it ride upside down on the shoulder strap, and I am needing some suggestions of how best to do that. I will post a pic of the knife and sheath and a link to the pack and you guys give me your suggestions. The pack is MALICE friendly and with the kydex sheath - I would think that I have quite a few options without having to buy a whole different sheath. Thanks in advance for your help.

duct tape? OK, how bout speed tape then :D

I don't think I'd mount it near the D ring unless you're sure you won't be using the ring for anything.

i would load the pack, put it on, and then hold the sheathed knife in various places on the pack to see where it is:
1. most easily reached
2. least likely to be pulled out by someone or something else
3. least directly visible if carried in public
4. most visible to your buddies so they can compliment the nice placement

i use gutted paracord for this application, especially with kydex sheaths. my guess is that it would go nicely on the left shoulder strap, blade facing out, with the piece of bungee barely out of the way of the hole in the sheath (but on top of the sheath. you can also add more bungee or bike tubes or just about anything to help cover the knife and sheath from plain view.

just a thought

I like shanshui75's ideas about determining a location and paracord. If not paracord, you could use cable ties.

Where did you find the Bitterroot? What do you think?

The cable tie/zip tie is a surprisingly effective solution. I used these to attach a small pouch to a pack and have been VERY pleased with the results.

If there's a sternum strap, why not mount it there? Even better, get a SpecOps "Frontal Assault" and either stash the blade in there (use something like the HAK Ripp-Cord at http://www.hideawayknife.com/want.php about 3/4 down on the page), or cobble together some form of attachment behind the FA pack. This would put the knife at the centerline and more readily accessible to either hand.
