Help me out using a Sharpmaker Please!

I have allot of success sharpening my knives with the Sharpmaker, except for the blade tips. I can't keep from rounding off the point. Do any of you other guys have this problem? Does anybody know how to get a nice sharp and "pointed" point using a Sharpmaker?

you just have to go really slowly as you get near the tips and make sure not to drag them off the edge.

alternately you can just sharpen the tips on the flats of the stones which also helps

I agree, I sharpen the tip first on flat section then sharpen the belly and edge to reccaso with upright rods.

Sharpening the tip first(on the flats) is what I do also. Works well for me.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I just tried the flat side for the tips last night and it works great. Good to belong to forum with such helpful members.
