OK guys, I have never carried a fixed blade for EDC before but think That is the direction I want to go now.

the first blade that caught my attention was the Busse Game warden. I would like to have something that will take a wicked sharp edge and hold it for a while. this wont be used as much more than a knife unless I got in a survival situation and didn't have my ratmanduex on me. so it shouldn't get to abused. I would go with something like a swamp warden But I really prefer a full handle over the skeleton handles the swamp rats have. ANother reason I haven'y just picked up a warden is I am thinking 250-350 for a 3" fixed blade is a little high for me.

what you guys sub $200 or close to $200 recommendations?

Swamp Warden is great, so is the SAR-3. If you want to go alot cheaper, check out the new Izula 2.

If you like Busse, take a look at the Active Duty. It has a thinner blade and makes a better slice IMHO. I have both and carry the AD more ofter than the GW.

for $200 you can get into just about any of the fine custom knife makers we have on the board, all have 3" designs and most would be open to making something from scratch

I'd suggest perusing the Makers Forum and seeing what is available custom- it's generally much more reasonably priced than one would expect

Look into the Bark River Knife & Tool company's lineup. They have several models that fit your criteria, and they come with blazing sharp convex edges.

Some times I think I go from thread to thread recommending the BK-2. Along those lines, I recommend the BK-2.

Thanks guys, the becker is a little on the big size. And for blade size I am wanting to stay between 3-4" so some of the bigger ones are out.

razels are pretty sexy check them out. google razel

personally i edc a crkt sting. but double edge makes legality interesting.

The Busse Game Warden is nice, especially if you can find one of the thinner ones. The regular model is a bit too thick for my taste and I rarely carry the one I have. The Busse Boney Active Duty (BAD) is what I consider the handiest small Busse EDC. I have a lot of knives and this one is a big favorite. I think you could find one in your price range.

I don't own a SAR3, but if I didn't already have a bunch of knives in that size range, I'd buy one. I bet that would make a wonderful EDC knife.

Stay sharp,
