Well, after digging through the knife laws and such it turns out that florida really only has issues with tactical knives and/or knives with blades greater than 3.5"

the two that come to mind that will certainly fit in these parameters are the benchmade oppurtunist and al mar falcon ultralight.

any other reccomendations of similar knives in terms of style/price/quality?

I like the BM 94x series, the Buck 110,
BM mini-griptilian, and the Spyderco Endura 4

Spyderco delica 4
Kershaw OD-1, Leek
S.O.G. Twitch II
Benchmade osborn 94* lineup
Buck 112

All 3.5" or under

Spyderco Delica or Kershaw Leek get my nod. Reasonably priced, quality made, good all around performers. Both part of my own EDC rotation.

if you're into ultra-fast (legal) deployment, check out the Kershaw Leek/OD-I/Blur.

blur is the beefiest, at 3-3/8 inches and a nice, tall blade.

+1 on the Kershaws.

Another option if you like one-handed openers is the Van Hoy Snap Lock.

The whole "common pocketknife" law in Florida is weird. There is no definition of what constitutes a common pocketknife, so it is left to the discretion of individual leo's (or a judge/jury, if it gets that far).

The best option is to get a CWP and you can carry anything you want (autos included :D).

If you can't/won't get a CWP then check out the Benchmade 940/943 or 551/556.

I would say to check out a Benchmade Griptilian or even the upgraded version of the 552 Ritter Grip.

Very good knives for the money, and the answer is "yes," it's worth the extra for the ritter grip :)

This is a great knife. I EDC'ed it for a couple of years, IWB when wearing a suit. Hardly notice it. Very sharp, solid lock, handle is very nice. My Sebbie has displaced it as an EDC, but it would displace just about anything.

Can't really go wrong with a Spyderco Caly 3. Absolutely beautiful knife with a wonderful leaf-shaped blade. It's a wonderful slicer and locks up tight.

Kind of wish I hadn't given it to my brother-in-law. Okay, well maybe not, but I do kind of wish I had it back. Just glad he uses it.

Go for a Spyderco Delica or Endura.

I've handled Griptilians and many others you have mentioned, but nothing meets the quality and performance of the $50 Delica. It's super light, strong, sharp, comfy, and damn cool looking too!

Go to Wal Mart and get yourself a Kershaw OD-1. It is a very well made knife with a smooth flipper. (Make sure the flipper screw is tight) Super sharp out of the box. Frame lock w G10 on one side. All for only $39.99.

I'm very surprised that people see the word "common" and start reccomending a/o's and flippers. Anyways, if you notice about the oppurtunist and the al mar ultra light... they both look pretty damn common. I mean in a court of law someone would be hard pressed to say that those aren't common looking knives. The od-1 is a beautiful knife in its own right;but, a/o plus a flipper isn't exactly common at all.

Spyderco is a great company, but I will never get past the hole. I tried for a long time and just can't do it. I grew up with thumb studs and that's what feels natural to me. An aside to getting the delica and my hatred for the spydie hole, I am getting the delica's aquatic cousin the salt I.

Any other reccomendations?

OD-1 is completely manual, it has no springs, torsion bar, or any assistance of any sort. It has a plain looking blade that is good for utility work and it's under 3". It's pretty normal.

try the Spyderco Endura Emerson wave its about 70 dollars and i got the Spyderco c10trw to go with it the c10trw is a trainer and a match of the endura wave that way you can practice your draw to target with out cutting your self or others

Queen mountain man locback. D2 tool steel, nice, traditional wood scales. Good price
