Help me pick a knife from these 3

I've got knives for work, knives for yard work, and knives for general use. I'm looking for one to wear when my wife and daughter go out. My thinking is it will need to be a double duty knife, defense ( I know, I know, just humor me) and general cutting, I don't see it getting alot of use, just something to carry if the need should arise. I've narrowed it down to 3
Spyderco Endura 4
Cold steel medium Voyager
Benchmade Vex
One of the criteria is that it must be thin in profile. Anybody have any input:D

I don't own a Vex or Voyager, but I do own a an Endura 4 and it's a wonderful EDC.

For me, having had all three at some point it would be;

Voyager
Endura
Vex

One to consider that isn't listed that'll fit great within your criteria would be a Benchmade 530. Extra thin, extra sharp and extra pointy and an axis lock.

Matador-

I'd pick the Endura. The Vex is a bit heavy (I like 3.5oz folders give or take).
The Medium Voyager is nice but has only a 1 year warranty and does not have an adjustable pivot screw. If your fingers are big, you might find yourself touching the sharp edge of the blade with your thumb when opening due to the narrow blade. I've had all 3 knives at one time or another.:)

Thanks for the replys guys, lots of good info so far. I did check out the tenacious, looks like a good knife, any input on it?

Is the endura the thinnest of the group?

I know that its not on your list, but if you want thin - and suitable for going out on the town with your two women - consider the Kershaw Leek:

As for the Tenacious, its an excellent knife, especially for the money. But thin it ain't.

The Endura is pretty thin, and feels great in the pocket.

I've handled a Vex, and while nice, it is thicker than the Endura.

From the three you list I would say get the Endura. I've still got one that I bought in the 80's that had no liners and a plastic clip made on/from the handle. I still take it fishing more than any other knife I have.

I'll second on the waved endura, you can pick'em up around 60.00. and ya can't go wrong......

Kershaw Skyline, Damascus if you want to go fancy.

Very thin, and super lightweight.

I have a Spyderco Delica pretty much for the same thing, it is easy and comfortable to carry clipped inside the pants, which just leaves the clip showing......and with those nasty wee serrations it cuts way beyond its size.

It resides beside the bed on the night-stand at all other times.........I consider it to be a weapon (which is ironic as I do not consider any of my firearms as such).

And yes, you are right...it does sound stupid AND pathetic in the cold light of day.....but it is still there.
