Hello all! I've been debating between two Livesay knives: The #702S and the #164 Celt, you can check them out here:

Anybody out there have either of these knives? Want to offer an opinion? Thanks in advance.

There are only two types of people; those who understand this, and those who think they do.

I have niether and I too am about to buy a Livesay neck knife (G-45) I'd get the 702s it's a better cross between utlity and defense. I like warncliffs but ir's easier to stab with a spear piont. Just my opinion.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

I like them light, thin, skeletonized, or VERY thin G10 or micarta (Nealy). This is assuming you really are going to wear it around your neck. And light means short for the most part. Like 2-1/2" to 3".

And go with the little break-away chains, not paracord (strangulation risk, seriously)

Larry Chew, Pat Crawford, Darrel Ralph Krait, Bud Nealy's mini Pesh Kabz, Dale Reif... short list off the top of best I've seen.

Emerson's LaGriffe is an interesting claw/slasher design for a light/small taken to extreme.

Something out of stainless. I can't imagine wearing a carbon steel knife, even with black coating, under a shirt near my sweaty chest. Even D2 is borderline unacceptable.

(Reif uses D2, caveat emptor, depends on intended use as to whether a disadvantage).

Boriqua,

My Jr. Exec's are on the way! Let you know what I think. Maybe, you'll get rid of that albatross of a "neck knife" you been dangling around your neck!

I have both knives. They are both great. Just pick the one you like best. You will be happy with either one.

Mike,

What's the price of the Jr Exec's in your Pic?

Also, how much do they weigh (I'm considering Neck carry).....

I would love to hear what you think of your Exec's !! Your right its probably time to think about a lighter neck carry. Im not as young as I used to be.

WHat is that I saw on the link .. Sr. Exec ?? Could you give more info ? Any 3.75 - 4" blades around ?

Hello again!

Hillbillenigma:

As to the cost, well, how much ya got?

These knives were in the $80-$120 range...

To answer your question about weight...I'm not sure...I've just sent them all off in the mail with only their digital images left to keep me warm...

I think the Exec's are suitable for use as a utility neck knife...These were a little on the fancy side but the full size handles make them good for work...

If you are looking for something to wear all day for defence or utility, weight becomes a real factor...

You trade that off in a utility knife that you use during the day but take off when work is done...

This is an example of a knife designed for all day carry...weighs in at about 50 grams (1.5 oz.)

Boriqua-

Aw, we've got a million of them...

Both Dell and I design knives to fit our own hands...And we both have small hands...

So we design additional variation of a knife to accomidate the ham-fisted amoung us...

The Sr. Executive knife was done at a customer's request and of cource the name was a given...

So the up-shot is that we like this knife as well so into the catalog she goes...

As long as it's along the lines of the work we are showing, we are happy to entertain suggestions for a custom knife...

Mike,

You guys are really getting prolific with the designs.

That sentry looks to be a real good "backup." The blue G10 wharmcliff in the "Shoptalk" forum looks pretty too.

BTW, the recent pictures you've posting have been real cool. How come to don't have a link to them from your site? OR did I missed the link?

Hello Sing...

Lucky the Dog (Chairman of the board) is putting together a page on the website to

link all of our friends, photo's, forum discussions and more info about Running Dog...

Of course his lack of opposable thumbs makes it a little to hold the mouse...But I'm helping him...

I would like to do all new photo's on the website but I never seen to have everything in the same place at the same time...Working on it though...

John,
I've been looking at neck knives for a few weeks and IMHO the Larry Chew "Neck Bone" is my favorite.
It has a 2.75 inch blade, CPM 420V steel and carbon fiber handles for $185.

or
The 2.5 inch ATS-34 steel for $85.

I can't decide if the .25 inch, better steel and carbon fiber handles are worth $100 more?

To answer your question, I like the 702S best.
