Hey guys, im going to start off by saying i didnt start liking spyderco knives until very recently, i didnt like their style but always heard about them. Ive been in montana for the past few weeks and decided to buy a Spyderco for the heck of it because it was so cheap.

I bought a Spyderco resilience and after EDC with it for a week or so i absolutly love it. Im thinking about getting another spyderco now and want to buy a high end model, nothing over 300 dollars and i prefer not to have a liner lock/frame lock. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks!

Hold off a bit longer if you want to go high end. The Brad Southard collaboration is supposed to be coming sometime this fall. Flipper, bearing system pivot, cts-204p blade steel. Should be spectacular.

Until then, pick up a para2, manix2, Gayle Bradley, caly3/3.5, one of the sage series, or one if many other moderately priced models.

If i was you wouldn't take the dive for a 300 dollar knives just yet but get a couple of the moderately priced ones (around $100). The sub-100 dollar knives are to good to miss out on. And you can get more knives for the money!

But that is just my .02

What are you looking for out of a knife? Are you favoring a Resilience-sized knife?
Suggesting a knife for you is mostly a matter of identifying what needs you want to address.

If you want something big like the Resilience I'd get a plain-jane Military. Awesome knife, and for me, makes a fine EDC. I had a Gayle Bradley and sold it.. which sucks cause now I want one again.. another great recommendation..

Can't go wrong with a PM2 either.. in fact, it's what would probably be most recommended here.

This may be a stupid question, but what is a compression lock? Is it like a spine lock? And yes the endura, maniz and sage look great i will research them more. The brad southhard flipper has a lot of character though, i love that.

A compression lock resembles a liner lock placed on the spine of the handle, but the mechanism involved is actually very different and a lot more robust from what I understand. In use, you'll find it easier, smoother, and safer to deploy and retract the blade. It's really a lock style you ought to try.

You could wait a few more months for the rerelease of the blue M390 PM2 at $180 Bento Box exclusive. It is my all time favorite folder.

Ill definitely get a Southard flipper when they come out but it is a framelock.

The compression lock looks like a liner lock but functions entirely different. The liner tab is compressed between the blade tang and stop pin, just like a ball bearing lock, but unlocking laterally instead of rearward.

Manix2 sprints are cool too but I prefer the PM2.

CF M390 Military was limited run for KW. You still can catch one under $300 on the secondary market. Watch for sale section of the forum and e-bay.

I agree with those that said to go with a sub 100 dollar model. You'll get a fantastic blade.

I'm stuck on the Enduras and the Manix families.

Spyderco Stretch. Superb ergonomics and great blade to handle ratio.

It's available in either VG-10 or ZDP-189.
