The title says it all. I'm looking for a necker in the under $50 price range. I'll give you a list of what I already have so nothing is mentioned that I already own, but I'll consider all recommendations. I've got $50 to spend, so maybe I can pick up two if the prices are right. I'm looking for a blade length of no more than three inches. Oh, it has to be carriable upside-down.

I already own: RAT Izula, Becker Necker, Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter, A. G. Russell Woodswalker, Meyerco Necklance, Buck Hartsook, Becker BK13, and CRKT Minimalist.

I don't want: any Cold Steels not mentioned, Buck Smidgeon (I already have four Hartsooks), any Smith & Wessons, or a CRKT Fixed Falcon / F4.

Had my eyes on: CRKT Dogfish, Randall King Snitch, Boker RNR, and CRKT River Ritter RSK Mk5. But anything will be considered.

Thanks for any help.

The Blind Horse Knives "Snap Knapp" can be carried upside down but the sheath is attached to the knife. I'd suggested the Tiger Knapp, Small Tiger Knapp, or Patch Knife but the neck sheaths offered do not allow inverted carry.

I splurged for a HAK, but I'd be quite happy with my Boker CLB Edit with the improved sheaths. Mine was from the first batch, loose enough I only use it for tip-down carry, but the newer ones are just fine. I cut the larnyard down on mine, very comfortable piece of steel with a very durable finish, you may grow to like the big handle/small blade concept and its control.

Josh, get a Buck Kaala if you dont already have one...it's a great knife.

CRKT Bearclaw.

How do you like the Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter? I really want one.

I recommend the Emerson LaGriffe, it's a nasty little thing, very cool, a great design. The CRKT bear claw is a rip off of it.

Check out the BokerPlus Chad Los Banos designs. They're available for around $30 and very nice. I think they're 440C.

the ka-bar last ditch needs to be held to be believed. it's very, very, small. i'd give it just a little better than thread cutter status. kewl little thing though.
I have an emerson la griffe and it's nice and light but I personally do not like the chisel grind for the cutting I do, but then again thats no fault of the knife and i really need to put a decent edge back on it.

I am not a fan of chisel grinds generally either but given this knife is designed as a last-ditch concealed weapon it fits that purpose well. Ounce for ounce I think it's one of the meanest things out there, but if you want a utility necker it's not the way to go.

But it sounds like you collect neckers, if that's the case then I'd say the Lagriffe belongs there.

+1 on the Tiger Knapp. It's not stainless like a Kaala but it seems to be an excellent knife for < $40. Also, I think there is a clip that can be bought from various sources that can be screw attached to kydex sheaths that would allow for horizontal carry clipped to pants, etc. Not sure if the sheath is leather what might work. Mine is kydex.

I know the steel is a bit soft, but I really do like the Dogfish. :)

As a neck knife enthusiast myself, I am envious of your existing collection. It looks like you have all the usual recommendations covered!

Although I am a Krein fan, the CRKT Dogfish really didn't do it for me and I sold it. Generally I like smaller knives but this just seemed too small. Also, the design struck me as unecessarily gimmicky.

A basic neck knife that I really liked was the Camillus Cuda Arclite. It's discontinued, but still pops up here and on auction sites somewhat frequently.
