Hello all,
I just bought Kershaw Zing and love it so much that I play with it 24/7. I need something a little bigger for different situations. Zing has nice detent ball tension to keep it close. Any other model has this kind of detent ball tension?

Thank you

Do you have its big brother, the Groove? I don't have a zing, but the detent on the Groove is pretty strong.

Look at the ENER-G models designed by Lee Williams I think. Vey nice flipper knives and very sharp. They have a nice strong ball detent that keeps the knife closed. That is one of the things I like about Kershaw. I do not want a folder opening in my pocket.

What, no love for the Lahar? Big ol honkin knife loaded with VG-10 goodness! AND its a slick flipper, too!

I vote for the ENER-G or Storm II. In NYC ( I see you live in Queens-Maspeth), do NOT carry the knife with a exposed pocket clip as it is against NYC law to have an exposed knife, so keep it in your pocket !!!

But concealed is okay? Brilliant. I know I feel safer...

I have to disagree about the JYD2. It's a great knife, but the detent holding that knife closed is very weak - it comes open very easily. The Groove has the type of detent tension your looking for, and it is the closest thing to the Zing's big brother you're going to find.

Thank you all for input. I am going to Paragon Sporting good today for JYD2, Ener-g and Lahar for size and feel. I will make sure that pocket clip is not showing. I am just worry that some LEO does not know different between auto and assisted opening.

I have wanted a JYD II for a while now......I just can't get over the crazy looking pocket clip. I would vote for the Lahar myself. :)

Re: the clip. Just make it smaller. I ground mine down and reshaped it. Works great.
