I currently have the following Benchmade folders in my carry rotation:

710 in M390
Pika II
Mini Grip 556
Aphid
Megumi

I also have a Microtech Mini SOCOM Elite auto and a SOG Flash II that I carry regularly.

I'm looking to sell the Pika II and the Flash II as I don't care for the Pika's lock back or opening hole or the 1/2 serrated edge on the Flash.

I've narrowed down my next knife purchase to either the 530 or the 551. They are both the same price at my local dealer, $70.

Convince me why I should get one over the other.

I've always preferred the 530 over any Grip, even the Ritters. They're easy to carry and I love the blade shape. That's my vote.

I know this is 2+ week old thread. glocker, which did you end up purchase? If you are still deciding, I'd say go for 530.

You have 710, that's a tank. 556 is a good representation of 551 in EDCable size. I see that you, then, have small and light carry knives (I love the Megumi, BTW. Wish Benchmade make it a bit larger one as well). I think 530 will fit right in the middle. Super light (under 1.9oz), full size blade, super thin yet great blade.

Let us know what you end up getting!

Buy them both, both are great for EDC. I would say the 551 is a bit more suited for hard use than the 530, but not by much
