Help me pick please!

Alright, I've narrowed it down to a couple BM's for my new EDC. Here they are:

Mini-Rukus vs. Mini-Presidio - or should I just got full size? Will full size be too big for a pocket knife?

Which and why?

And of couse I'm going to get a Spyderco Sharpmaker

P.S. If these two come off as bad EDC's, feel free to let me know and suggest a differnt knife.

I don't know about the Presidio, but the full size Rukus is a GIANT. More of a novelty than a real user for most. The mini I hear is what most folks consider regular size. The Rukus is an excellent knife for EDC.
 
Full sized Rukus is very big. OAL 10"+. CL is ~6". That's really big. You should strongly consider the mini if you go with this model. The blade length alone may cause you some problems if there are legal restrictions in your area. Better double check. Seems like a good model though, mini or full sized. Sharpmaker is an excellent idea.
 
Well they are both great knives but, the Ruckus may be to large depending on where/what you do, the mini is a better size about 3.5 in., and the Presidio is about 3.4in., and the mini-pres. is a bit under 3in., so personally I would go mini ruckus, or reg. pres., they would make great edc, as long as size is not an issue where you are, where I live knives are not a big deal, but a few hhours north in Chicago I have had problems with size, and carrying period so think it tthrough, and you will get a great knife.
 
First off check you knife laws in your area and make sure you can carry either or both.

Secondly if at all possible go to a local dealer and handle both to see how they fit in your hands and see how they fit in your pocket.

If you do both of these then your decision will probably be made for you.

As for my opinions the steel is better on the rukus but the rukus definately isnt for everyone. The large is long and even though i have fairly big hands it didnt fit my hand so well. A better comparison would be the mini rukus vs the big presidio because they are both about the same size. So if it was my money and i was picking between these two knives id get the mini-rukus. But id take a 710 or skirmish before either
 
delkhouri, the Skirmish is just out of my price range. I think I'm going to go with the Mini-Rukus. Does anyone know if they make an all black handle? I don't really like the OD Green.
 
Full presidio is close to the size of the mini- ruckus, the one you almost decided on, but if size is an issue, the mini-pres. at 2.9in. is acceptable in most places, I don't know anything about NH knife laws, but reg. or mini its a heck of a knife. good choice.
 
Since I'm not making any progress at work, I thought I might help you out with a minute of photoshop.

Here's the graphics of the two I grabbed off some sites. One's a bit rough as I had to cut out background artworks. Anyway, I calibrated the image sizes and put it into PDF form, so that if you print it out without scaling it would exactly be the size of the knife.

Here's the PDF.

To print it without scaling, in the File->Print dialogue, there's a dropdown that says "Page Scaling". It's usually on "Shrink to" or "Fit to Printable Area". Change it to "None". After it prints, put a ruler on it and make sure the 520 has almost a 3.5" and the 525 has a 3". If it's much shorter, you did it wrong.

If successful, then put cardboard backing on it and swing it around. Ask people you interact with if it looks scary.
